I just bought a new air governor today. except I bought one different than the original. the current one has a cut in pressure at 100 cut out pressure at 120. the old one can be adjusted on the cut out pressure but not the cut in pressure. the new one cannot be adjusted at all, but has a 105 cut in pressure & a cut out pressure of 130. I like the cut in pressure at 105. mine will get to 90 before I see it start to climb if I am on the brakes a lot, especially down a good bumpy grade also, must have some small air leaks too. anyway my question is will putting this new type governor work o.k. ? I already have the old one to cut out at 125-130, so there would not be any added pressure than is already there now.

Your original adjustable governor is a Bendix D2 unit. In my mind they are a better choice all around for a o/o that uses air tools off his trucks system. The non adjustable unit will work fine. If you look in the Bendix catalog either governor will work, the only differnce is the gasket material. For some reason the non adjustable takes the same style of gasket, but made out of a different material.

Thank you. your right about the gasket. the new one is more like a rubber material, rather than the older type felt type. I do use the air off my truck, nut not often, do use to air up tires if needed. but with a cabover, it is not conveinant to adjust the governor. so I just wanted the one with the cut in pressure. thanks again

I put the new governor on. I sure like it a lot better than the old one. cut in pressure at 105 works a lot better than 100. when going down steep bumpy grades loaded, my air stays built up & hold better than before. would be at 85-90 lbs before, now it does not go under 100 lbs.

When you install the new govenor buy a vent plug for the exhaust port it will keep the dirt out of it and they last a lot longer for a dollar part.
