test hopefully went well, will find out friday whether I pass high or low. Well I hate staying in on friday but my sinuses are killing me, maybe even have the flu

@Cool35 I agree with you on the air-force for my own reasons... but why do you think thats the way to go, just seeing if we go got the same agreements. I wanted to do Navy like my gramps, be a seabeeze but at the same time I dont want to live in the middle of the ocean on a ship or sub for months and months. I do like Marines, actually am really shocked how they are willing to help, but also dont want to be a glorified infantry man(every marine a riflemen). I do like army however since they got a lot of jobs. Airforce seems more technical jobs though,

Well ACH it is up to you ultimately. I will give you a little insight on my experience. I'll try to make it short and sweet. I joined the Navy cause my dad made me. I didn't really want to. My uncle told me to join the Air Force. Wish I would have listened. I got sick of being on the ocean. I went in as an air plane mechanic and ended up manning radar. Yes they lied to me. So after 9 months of being out on the ocean 3 of us decided to go for SEAL training. We all 3 made it, don't know how but we did. We got to train with every branch of the military and then some. I say the Air Force is the best because they seemed to be the easiest. Also my uncle told me they were. The Marines seemed to be the worst. From worst to best I would list them like this. Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force. The first 2 will put a weapon in your hands and at any given time just grab you and show you where to shoot. The Navy and Air Force you can have some really kick back stuff to do. You can be trained on what you want (as long as you score high enough to get it) or you can choose to fight if you can learn to fly or make it through their grueling special ops training.

Most of my friends that came out of the Air Force have good jobs. 2 of them are nurses making 150,000 a year. I wish I would have thought smarter rather than with impulse. I would have retired from the Air Force and then done something else, maybe even nursing. My uncle and father in law were both stationed in Hawaii while in the Air Force. Geez what luck.

Now I talked to a guy that had just joined the Navy and he said they don't do those long tours out at sea anymore. I didn't get specifics but he told me that he is gone for 2 weeks usually and up to 4 weeks at the most. I don't know if that is just a special circumstance or what.

Bottom line is when you join the military you belong to them and they will put you where they want you no matter what they tell you. With the Air Force I believe you have the best options. Also the same with the Navy more or less. Better to stay off the battlefield unless you choose to do so. Marines will pretty much take anybody and so will the Navy. That was my experience anyway. The Air Force wants smarter people and the Army is about middle of the road. It's been over 17 years since I was in there so things may have changed. If you want more info I will try to give it, might be out dated since I joined in 1990. Try to go with your gut but do lots of research and try to talk to guys currently in the different branches. Recruiters will tell you anything just like trucking.

thats exactly what I wanted to hear. Yes marines you are infantry first. Im not all down to run into combat, if it happens then it happens. I gt friends who want to be on the front line. Id rather learn something out of it. Dont get me wrong Id love being around water but for 9 months at a time I wouldnt want that. Air-force didnt really seem to want to talk unless I lost the weight, navy wanted me even thinner, but being as big as I am if I was 198 pounds like the navy wants then I'd look stupid.(6'2)

Yea looking at the air-force website looks better. Although army is bigger and easie to get into like you said Im afraid they take my job and put me on front lines. Only problem is the the only one I knew in the navy was my grandpa but hes gones now. I know 1 guy who was air force but had to leave for medical conditions(at least it was a honory discharge). Got another friend whos air guard reserve. I know a ton of Army and Marines though. Speaking to a good friend of mine today who was a marine he hated it. He wants to go into the air force now instead. But at the same time if he re-enlists into the marines he gets to go into officer school.

Yeah the military is a tough call. I was 5'11" and 150 lbs when I joined the navy! After SEAL training I hit 185 lbs. All muscle!

St Louis, here I come. Woohoo, $$$! Sorry I missed ya ST. We'll run into each other eventually. I'm at 309 quite frequently. Anyway, IDK, could be just my imagination, but, seems like biz is picking up. Later guys.

ACH1130: I just wanted to say, I would be careful making your decision on what the recruiter says. They are salesman. I think it would be best, if you can, to talk to people who have served, in the different branches. Especially, ones who have served recently (Afghanistan, Iraq, etc...). They will tell you the truth. Sorry I can't help, I never served, which actually bugs me from time to time, however, the over whelming majority of guys I've known who have, got the hell out as quick as they could. lol Just sayin. But, I'm sure you already know, the armed forces isn't for everyone. Good luck dude. :thumbright:
