I ran LTL for a year and it was the worse job I ever had. It was non-union so the pay was very low. I ran out of Las Vegas NV and if I got the good run I was never home. We had what we called the loop. Las Vegas to Reno, stop and rest, then to Salt Lake, stop and rest, then back to Las Vegas. At the same time a friend of mine was the boss at Willig before they went out of business. They were union and back in 1990 their local drivers were getting paid $19 an hour and their line drivers were a little more. The company I worked at paid their local drivers $7 an hour and I got paid 27¢ a mile for pulling triples. So if you go LTL I'd go union. I left there and went to gasoline tankers and that was the best job I ever had. And paid more, even more than the LTL union drivers.

LTL is less than truck Load and those companies pay very well. They offer
p & d and line haul. You will do dock work because now its slow. If as a driver you are waiting for a load you will work the dock. -
Thanks for clearing that up BigDaddy, Silly me, I was thinking LTL was the name of a company.

Apply with as many companies as you can and then wait and see if one calls you...if not be persistant with the company that sounds reasonable....good luck..
