It's more fun when they are coming head on to you at 65 MPH.

Thanks for the heads up, sometimes we get to relaxed behind the wheel and we are not focusing like we should, I know I have been there a few times. My rule in driving trucks is to try and maintain distance if possible especially in traffic.

Ive noticed this situation alot here lately, I will never understand most people get behind the wheel of their car and do everything in it but drive. As long as it cranks up and goes thats the only concern too. I have never had any car or truck that I was in just STOP dead in its tracks have always had some warning or something tell me to get off the road....
Which leads to these people who drive their vehicle and they know its breaking down and just stop in the travel lane of a high speed interstate.
Just puts to many in danger that can be prevented. I'll say it common sense just cant be taught or purchased!!!!!

Heh, or how about the guy broke down on the shoulder who is standing out in the lane with his back turned towards you while looking at his vehicle.

That's why its vitally important to maintain safe following distance, look as far down the road as possible, Expect the Unexpected. I had an oldtimer tell me one time " never just follow the truck in front of you,if he falls asleep and drives off the road are you gonna follow him then as well?"

Did this happen at the 407 sevierville exit on I-40 in TN? It seems to never fell that they block the left lane. I have even seen them block the middle lane trying to get it the backed up left lane.

FYI a Heavier truck will stop in a shorter distance than a lighter one.

I'm not sure that is true. The COF (coefficient of friction) between a tire and the pavement remains the same no matter the size of the vehicle but the downward force exerted by a heavier vehicle is outweighed by the momentum generated by the heavier mass

I sent 3 Canadian Geese to their maker once when this happened to me in morning rush traffic. They were much softer to hit than a car......
