Here is why the gangs can do that. If you do not like the rate you can keep on saying no till the next week starts or drive empty to a better spot. But right now North East is the spot which is much better market than usual. Like I said earlier you can laugh all that you want, when others are hurt and starving but I can guarantee that soon it will be effecting you one way or the other.
One more time, the same story of the guy who says "they went after the Jews and I did not do anything because I was not a Jew. They went after the Christians and I did not do anything because I was not a Christian. Then they went after the Muslims and I did not do anything because I was not a Muslim. Then they went after me and I ran for help, but there was no one left to help. IMO if any one of the trucker (regardless of the color of the skin, we should all be involved and fight the aggressor off, otherwise when they go after you and you run for help, there will be no one to help to you either.
I have ran empty from Tampa FL to GA and SC and NC and VA and then all the way up to CT . They all told me or at least who ever was answering the phone all that time, the same rate all the way to VA from FL around $1.0/mile.

So do the Carriers, I have seen Vector posting 10--15 trucks at a time when they do not have even single (physical) truck on hand. The industry uses multiple reporting sights who use a very sophisticated software which extracts the rate sheet numbers from the Brokers computer systems. DAT is one of them which the industry trusts.

Just curious how MB is still in business with all the deadheading, and waiting due to mafia's and such, the way he makes it sounds he takes one load a month and that's only because he was able to send smoke signals to the broker so they don't redirect the phones.

    Working Class Patriot Thanks this.

I run the northeast every week out of WI. Normally I find good LTL going back for at least double what the guys hauling full load are getting. If I don't find a load I like I deadhead west. It is your own fault for accepting a cheap rate or deadheading north on the east coast. Everyone knows that the rates on the coast are typically cheaper no matter if you are in Florida, Maine, or anywhere in between. This is especially true if you only pick your loads off the spot market. And yes I am laughing at you for a couple of reasons:
    1. You deadheaded from a bad market into a different bad market.
    2. You are blaming a "mafia" behind the scene.
    3. You sit for days and put up with the lowballing rates.
    4. Claim they "forced" you into taking a cheap rate.
    5. Just cause the northeast is "much better than usual" doesnt make it a good place to be in. Lately I have had a easy time booking 3-4 light LTL shipments back to Chicago and southern WI for totals in the range of $2300+

So you sat in milford Ct for 5 days with no load. Theres alot of shippers whithin 30 miles of you, even more right next to you. Maybe you should have dropped your trailer and did some selling of your service. Better yet get the heck out of there and deadhead to a better area if you do not like what you offered. If you want to run up here take some advise from a guy who lives here. Get some direct shippers or hook up with a loacal small broker and you will see rates above $2 going out.
