A3 looks like a good cut-across/shortcut from one part of 395 to the other. I think I had taken it a long time ago but was too paranoid this time when I saw the 65' limit sign (I think I am slightly over that). Do most trucks with 53' trailers take that shortcut, or has it become some kind of trap with those length limit signs? Thanks.
California County Route A3 (south of Susanville)

I wouldn't chance it -- big CHP presence in Susanville (lots of rookies fresh from the academy looking for any ticket they can write)

If you have a 53' you are over 65' OA and they will bust you for it. A 53' is just too obvious, I'll sneak a 48, but no way would I try a 53'

Local CHP lives on that road....not advised...besides it's only 12 miles farther doing it legal!

Stick to your legal routes. If it's a matter of saving money, get more money for the load.

Local CHP, refer to it as a $450 toll road, don't do it.

My advise is take truck route it's only a few miles more.

i personally know at least one fresh young CHP that works up there and they are crazy about writing tickets. especially to trucks... they dont mess around
