best bet is smaller, regional and/or local company dump trailers mainly or car hauler the trucking world gets awfully tiny if u just wanna drive large cars but it is entirely possible i never once sat my butt in a ugly truck and never will either it's w9's or 379's chromed out and ungoverned for me but it wasnt easy

being new if u want a hood its gonna be pretty hard unless u can prove urself with a smaller outfit lone star transportation I believe hires newbs out of TN and they got 379 petes im sitting next to 2 of them right now but i believe they are getting rid of them for the overgrown football helmets im ashamed to call a peterbilt also keen transportation runs peterbilts all hoods (short and long) but they are heavy haul and im not sure if they hire newbs. if u want one bad enough u gotta work for it a convential truck is a big responability they're longer not as much visability cost way more to run and are ment to be kept longer unlike these throwaway trucks that are out there (pro star cascadia)

there always tmc as well but i dont care what anyone says they're just a bunch wannabe large cars im sorry it aint a large car if u can only do 62 for gods sake

another thing if u do get one keep it clean one thing about hoods is that they have usually lots of chrome which MUST be kept polished nothing i hate more then seeing a pete all oxidized and when u ask the driver whats going on and they tell u "oh im just a company driver thats not my problem" my response to them is well turn that truck in for a 13 letter ###### spreader and give that truck to someone who deserves it

edit:: before anyone says my sig pic is of my truck BEFORE I had a chance to sit down and spend 9 hrs waxing paint polishing wheels and tanks and grill...tanks came out like #### and had a guy in san antonio high speed buff it and they came out awesome

Can't drive for TMC, gotta be 23.... Your not driving an 379 (Now Called 389) or W9 for any OTR carrier with 3 years local and 21 years of age in Tennessee unless its an very small company or owner operator with an extra truck.

Other options you have, go to Smith Transport, Drive an Columbia or Cascadia and wait until you can get an 389 but you might have to be 22 to get on with them

    Lone Star gotta be 22

Central Refrigerated You can get a W9 but it won't be right off the bat

Quite a few companies use to have 379's and W9's but once fuel went up they got rid of em, Hell i haven't seen an Werner 379 in about a couple of years

I know the feeling son, I was raised around 359 and 379 petes and still can't wait to get one, but for now i'm just blessed to be driving period!!

So put that to the back burner, find a nice company gig which it's quite a few down in that area you should be able to get, save up and buy you one, hell that's what I'm about to do...

There are a lot of companies that hire at 21 years old. Just have to check the websites & make some phone calls.
