Sad that a mistake of using small chains took someone's life, because I have never seen anything like that before. Prayers go out to this person's family for their loss.

That's a pretty steep hill he is going down which played a part. Probably a combination of things like small chains, the slack not taken out, the bucket is raised sitting on the back deck which allowed the loader to go up on the cab and the brake issue. If the bucket was down all the way it would of never went up there. Once momentum starts it's hard to stop that heavy thing. You can see the oil stain where he normally loaded it. It had a good 5-6' rolling room.

Not good at all. My condolences to the family.

Eery when you realize the driver had to be inside in every one of those photos.

I wonder why the cop whited out the Idealease logos on the truck.

Maybe he doesn't want people to post it on a forum and interfere with an investigation. Get the handcuffs! :)

I was wondering the same thing if he left it running and somehow it jumped or vibrated into gear. It sure seems like it just crawled across the gooseneck. I don't much know about backhoes, but our John Deere lawn tractor when stopped on off does not free wheel, I would assume a backhoe was the same way, so if he did put the brakes on that much it looks like there would be some tire tread on the ground. It doesn't look like any rubber was put down with the pictures they showed.

They may have wanted to be able to contact the family before someone recognized the truck. And sometimes it seems like a lot of the truck companies are not mentioned in these reports also.

I'm thinking it was running, also the steering pins were never dropped so I'm thinking he was not going far

I am sad to say I know the son of this driver. It was large hill an from what I hear there was an issue with the brakes on the loader. I know an investigation is underway but who knows if the findings will ever be released. He told me there are more pics out that show the chains broken an all over the road. Rip Carroll Hall

Thanks for the post. Sad story to see someone die for any reason but perhaps this story will be seen by someone else and save a life in the future.

Keep us updated with findings if you can. Thanks again.
