egr replacement costs....ARE YOU FRICKIN KIDDING ME?!?!?!

600 miles for $615.00 plus your time and a couple days down?? Not sure I would do that as I don't see the savings unless your mechanic needs the business and your doing him a favor??

 

BBB just had one done at a Volvo dealer near him (Chattanooga), and it was around $1200, IIRC.

 

I had one throw a code this morning..check engine light on and lost power. I ended up being able to reset it. Switched off, switched on and counted to ten then switched off. Counted to ten again and repeated. I then pulled the key out of the ignition and let it sit for 30 minutes. Did one more on off then a quick back on and started the engine. Check light and code gone. Full power back and mpg back to normal. 300 miles later all is fine.

I got an egr code back in early December and did the same procedure and had no issues until today. Give it a go and it might reset. I have a d12.

 

What's the failure mode on these? Are they clogging, bad sensor, bad actuator?

 

It was Champaign ILL not chattanooga... and he said it was 14OO. That was including some other tests to make sure it wasnt the ECU......

But either way, better than the 22OO i get charged at volvo charlotte!!!

volvo in laredo is cheaper.... 2 egr valves and egr cooler $2800...(parts and labor) i pull on the lot at 0930 in the shop at 1045, ok'ed repair at 1130, truck was done and back on the road at 1745
