My dad was big on that when I was learning to drive the skate, I guess now I know why (being a trucker himself, Im sure experiences like the ones your refering to lead him to teach me better).
The start of my first year with Swift.

Finally figured out how to post from my phone. Wish you would have grabbed me on your way out of TX. That heat in GA sounds good to me. Also my mentor is getting on my last nerve. Someone save me please I'm in a McD's at a Pilot in Fort Worth.

I'm sure that would go over like a turd in the punch bowl!
Texas was a bit chilly when I went through. I saw some snow in the panhandle and there was ice on the roads in central TX.
Hang in there. You can do anything you have to do, as long as you know it's not forever. -

Unfortunately I have time for a mid day update. Have I mentioned anything about hating the Alabama mud!! I got a load I was to pick up from a mill. When I got there they rejected my trailer. The good news is that Swift repairs the trailers onsite and I was hooked back up and ready to roll in no time. I got in line and there were several trucks in front of me. The guy at the shipping office said, "drive back into the gravel parking lot and wait there." Why am I the only one back here...duh. Well, I got back there and it was a really tight area. I was trying to get turned around and just when the truck and trailer were almost at 90 degrees...I'm in the mud. Now I have to traction to back up. To the front are a couple of trailers...I think, good deal, I'll just ask the mill to move them and I'll drive right out....Not going to happen. The mill says they can't be moved. Finally the director of operations comes down and says he's willing to pull me out but I have to ask. I'd already called onroad and have a tow truck on the way. Am I red faced or what. Now all the people that were behind me are getting loaded and I'm stuck in the mud for God only knows how long....and it's raining. The good news is that I've not damaged the truck. No damage, no accident, but I'm still stuck.

You have got to be kidding me. Now onroad can't get on the mill site. They've been within a mile of me for an hour. The mill security won't let them in. I just need to be pulled back out of the mud so I can move the tandems up and work my way out of this hole. I can't wait to get the load and get out of Alabama. Of course...it's raining again.
I've never been a patient man. While I know that had I not pulled a bone head move and tried to turn around back here I wouldn't be in this spot, I would never have thought of coming back here if the guy in receiving hadn't told me to move my truck. In the end I'm the driver. I have to take responsibility for what happens to my truck. Just venting.Bigdubber Thanks this. -
Your days don't ever get better do they? Things always seem to snowball for you. Sitting here outside the Pilot by the fuel lane bored to death. Mentor was sleeping at.last check. Back to the.fuel lane this guy from Long Haul Trucking has been parked 3 guarters of the way in the fuel lane for over half an hour. Waiting for the cues to start when he gets back but the suns going down and getting cold on this side so going back inside to McDs to warm up.
