Started in 1981 to present, 33 years. 4,565,748 actual driven miles, ( 3,500,000 paid miles...lol ). No tickets, no accidents. Only 3 level 1 inspections. Only advice on that is: keep your dash and windows clean, go through the line like you know your job to perfection, and no matter what kind of day D.O.T is having, be the bigger professional and show respect. Getting ready to retire before something happens. Been a long hard road, some good, some bad. Had something happen a few weeks back in Dallas, TX Fly'n J, got invited to a cook out with a couple of drivers in the lot...reminded me of many years back when that was a normal thing to do... Used to be drivers could always depend on other drivers.... I would like to see it come back to that someday....All that run the roads today, My prayers are with you all....god speed, happy trails, keep the shiney side up and the greasy side down...

1.6 million, 6 speeding tickets (one in Ohio for 92 in a 55), got stopped in Cali for 107mph and let go with "slow it down a little and have a good day", 1 radar detector ticket, 2 successful level ones, never been caught on either one of my logbooks, zero accidents. Got stopped west of Sand Springs, Ok doing 135 with my ex-wife with me in the POV. She thought I was going to jail. they let me go (got lucky). I'm not even going to talk about my '99 Ninja Zx-9.

Been driving 26 years. I've driven a dump with a pup trailer, pulled 53's when they first came out; reefer's; spread-axle flat; and been on a daily mail run for the last 17 years. 2.5+million miles with no crashes, never even in a ditch. Hauling mail the loads are light but you don't stop unless the road is physically closed. 2 speeding tickets, one in OH and 1 in CA. NO log book tickets and it hardly ever was legal when I was OTR back in the day.

Well in 19 years I have 1.75 million miles... Never been OTR... mostly home daily... maybe 100 overniters... (3 or 4) 3 night trips... (1) ticket for a seat belt... (1) non-preventable accident... (1) DOT violation for not having my recap done after midnight. I'm semi-patient... non-aggressive... very, very lucky... and unemployed.
1.25 million miles are CDLA... 500,000 are in a 28' box truck. I became unemployed a year ago when the company I hauled for on a dedicated account went out of business... I worked there for 11 years... You might ask why I would be unemployed with this record... me too. My last 5 years was in the 28' box truck... to save money the people I worked for put us in straight trucks... I didn't care... I was still making $50,000 a yr. driving a straight job... I never thought about what would happen if the job ended...
With my record I felt golden... well surprise... employers felt I was out of a big truck too long... like I forgot.
Then when the job ended I had some surgery for bad circulation in my legs that I had been putting off for a few years... because I really had no one to do my job if I was absent. My company was in Allentown, PA... and there was 3 of us in MA... and no backup... we'd cover each other for a day or 2 if someone got sick or had an emergency... 2 of us would split the 3rd drivers run as best we could... we all did between 350 and 450 miles a run. In 11 years I missed under 10 days... so did the other drivers... not that we didn't get sick... we just worked through it.
Then after having 2 surgeries and recoup time... 4 months had passed... I also got involved in building a prototype of a product that I had thought of... It took quite a bit of research being that I'm just a truck driver... after I had done pretty much what I could with that... I began to look for a job more diligently... Previous to that if I saw something appealing I would still apply... I continually heard that I was out of a big truck too long... so I went back to the school I attended in 1994 and did a refresher.... still no luck. I'm at a loss of what to do now... My product will take some time before I can make some money there. Beware if you get out of your truck.Dave 1960 and kerosene jockey Thank this. -
I am hitting just over 1.2million in 14 years. No tickets no accidents. Knock on wood. Switching to tankers here soon. Will be like a noob again lol. If see my truck going slow you will understand. I be in right lane.
MazelTruck and Dave 1960 Thank this. -
Does 1/5 count in my time behind the wheel? I'm sure it counts for something, I am impressed with these guys that do this so long they can tell what a driver is doing before he does it, I pull into a truck stop and still have to find an easier spot to get in or I don't get in it... Thank you to the MM+s
