Heard a Rumor about teams and being new

There are plenty of companies that will hire you out of CDL school. You should not be forced to drive teams. BTW, do get your hazmat while in school-and doubles endorsement.

 

I got my cdl and start orientation at my carrier monday.They require me to get hazmat within 6 months!!!And training is always team driving,until your a co driver and not student driver..I think USX and CRST only really run teams,unless you have been there quite awhile and get different !!!!

 

easy way to get you to come to work for them.
Then they tell you after the fact, oh you need to run as a team. No more solo jobs.
Ask upfront and get it in writing.. No writing no go...

 

Mudsun, Getting your Hazmat is no big deal. Don't sweat it.

 

Which other companies hire from that school.? Take a look at all companies.
All that junk about riding with a trainer for a long period of time is just the companies way to get teams on the road cheaper. Why do you think they make a driver a trainer, when he's only been driving a couple of months; it's a cheap way to get teams in the trucks. Don't fall for it, unless you're one of the few on this earth that actually want to run teams.

 

teams is NOT for everyone. if you dont wanna live with another driver in a tiny metal box 24/7, then you dont have to, other than the few weeks most all starter companies require you to go with a trainer. crst is team only, and maybe usx is as well. so dont go with them if teams is not what you want. there are a LOT of companies out there that will hire new grads...do your research and find out where you want to go. millis has good reputation. swift, schneider, usa truck, prime.... the list goes on and on.

 

Do an online application with Tribe Transportation. They are in Cleveland, GA.

There are many companies that hire new students that aren't your traditional starter companies. You can go with flatbed, tanker, reefer, van. Look around before locking in with one company. What city & state do you live in? Some posters on here may help with other companies if they know city & state.
