But you don't need to wear a shirt that has a sex theme in school, do you? I mean, if it were a shirt of a naked man and woman intertwined, I'm sure it wouldn't be allowed, either.
I'd like to see exactly what the shirt looked like - if it was graphic or just a symbol or what.
Sexual preference, IMHO, doesn't belong on clothing worn to school. It's just too much information. -

That's it???!?!! That's all that was on her shirt?????
Oh, my, talk about over reacting!!!!! Sheesh!!!!! That's ridiculous!!!!! Next they're going to prohibit the wearing of the yin/yang symbol and everything else.
"Interfered with her ability to teach"??? Ugh... save me from the morons of the world... I hope the parents get some satisfaction.
I never have a problem with gays, just don't FLAUNT it or shove it down my throat and it's not a problem. IMHO, that shirt was NOT a problem!!!!! -
Generally, dress codes also contain a catch-all phrase that mentions any clothing that can cause distraction or disturbance in the classroom.
This kid is so wrong...........she needs to be slam dunked along with her ACLU idiots.
OK folks, all of you who were saying the teachers never display any common sense, lets hear it for THIS teacher. HOOORAAAY. -
Wait now I thought all teachers were liberal.

Although the shirt is not offensive, and I would have no problem with her wearing it on the weekend, it has no place in school. The dress codes prohibt clothing of a sexual nature or clothing that is a distraction. This is both. She was asked to cover it up and not wear it again. There was no punishment for that. A smart person would wait for the weekend to wear it.

When I was in school you couldn't wear any shoes that exposed your toes...no open toed shoes or sandals...the girls Dean thought they (toes) were too distracting....

Pretty much says it all...

I remember when we were in junior high, our skirts had to touch the floor when we kneeled. Yep. In public school. And girls HAD to wear skirts or dresses. No slacks, pants, or shorts.

The last two years that I was in high school, I never saw a shirt like that.... but somehow being a lesbian was in style or something.....
...... You literally couldn't walk down any hall way in my school without bumping into some lip locking girls.
So, I don't really see an issue with the shirt. People are going to be making out in the hallways of the school, no matter what anyway. Even if that goes against the pda rules........
Anyway, kids are seeing this in stuff in real time, so what's so bad about a t-shirt?
