Student Claims Teacher Asked Her to Cover Up Lesbian-Themed Shirt

What I never understood about rules like that was, it never applied to the cheer leaders. They'd sit down, and have their panties displayed for the entire classroom, and regular girls got in trouble, because their skirts came past their knees when they sat down.... not fair at all.

 

I've seen some pretty amazing dress code violations when I went to highschool.
My freshman year, I was talking to my group of fellow dorks, and there was this really hot senior that I had a crush on standing next to the balcony.... where the whole school could look up from the first floor more or less and see her...... It was senior toga day, and she was wearing very sexy toga.
Another senior,(a boy of course.) Thought it'd be funny to yank at the bottom of her toga, and pull it off...... thinking she'd be standing in front of the entire school in nothing but her bra and panties..... When he yanked off her toga, much to his suprise, (As well as to the enjoyment of myself, and my fellow onlooking perverts) she was completely butt *** naked underneath her toga.Literally almost the entire school saw her naked.... completely naked. I was but a few feet away.

My sophmore year, it was some kind of other dress up day, only this was one for the entire school. These two girls, that EVERYONE had a crush on..... both dressed pretty provactively. I forgot what one of them was wearing, but I remember the other one was dressed as the play boy bunny.... I remember this because she sat right next to me in my spanish class.
Anyway, the other girl told her she looked like the s word..... and they got into a fight in the hallway.... almost the whole school saw it.... both their costumes got ripped off.
But unfortunately I was a nerd, and was studying/doing my spanish homework, and skipped that 15 minute break.... and in effect missed out on all the action.

 

Oh yeah.... btw my last three years of highschool, they made an announcement over the intercom the day before senior toga day, saying that you had to have underwear on underneath your toga.

They say in world shattering events you remember exactly where you where.
Well, I was in the bathroom headed for my psychology class on spetmeber 11th, 2001 when that first tower got hit..... I saw the second one get hit while in psychology class live on tv.
I remember I was waiting for my chronically late Algebra teacher to show up and open up his class room door when the toga incident happened, and that I was only a room over, and in Spanish class, when I missed out on the cat fight.

 

i believe in freedom of speech but there is a time and a place for everything. a lesbian shirt in school is not the right place.

 

Being more liberal, and seeing the symbols...what's the big deal??? Was it the symbols or the idea...I think it was the idea...remember..toes were sexy in my day...something to be covered up...why?...because the girls dean found them 'disturbing'...it's not about the kids...it's about the adults.

crap. can you believe this???? a political message ????? what the hell does being a dyke have to do with politics???? the ACLU louses should all be thrown in prison because they are bringing the country down with their B.S. the school has a dress policy just like any other school... and the girl abused it. it's her fault, her problem. the teacher is 100% right . this is EXACTLY an example of why this country is out of control anymore. unbelievable. this type of arguement from the pieces of crap at the aclu is what brings about anarchy. how can you run a country and defend a country and have a strong morality based society if the f***** aclu does s*** like this. they are the ones that should be locked up. stupid a-holes

To wear that shirt again after knowing the teacher was offened no matter what you think was only done to prove a point. She could have worn it the next day when she did NOT have that class. ok assuming they are on the block schedual like NC and Tx schools are.
Why is it OK for her to proclaim her sexuality but the Teacher can NOT proclaim her beliefs?

 

I thought kids were sent to school for an education. Sure sure, they can still get an education. But allow things like this only distracts kids from what they are supposed to be there for.

Espacially when your talking about someeone thats not an adult.
And those short shorts with the letters written on the butt. Those are cute for adults. But why in the world would anyone allow a young girl to wear them. Don't they realize that brings attention to the girls behind?

About the lesbien shirt. That logo is sexually oriented. No matter what you say about it. It's a symbol of lesbienism. And on adults, thats one thing. But not for kids. Her parents should be ashamed of themselves.

 

Bethany Laccone can attend I.C. Norcom High School wearing a T-shirt that depicts a lesbian pride symbol, Principal Lynn Briley said Friday.
Briley's announcement came a day after the American Civil Liberties Union demanded that Norcom officials apologize to the 17-year-old student after a teacher and an assistant principal reportedly made her cover up the shirt and requested she not wear it to school.
The organization also requested, among other things, that officials not participate in other such "censorship" and remove any disciplinary notices related to the incident from Laccone's file.
"Yes, we did make a mistake," said Briley, adding that she had talked Thursday with the teacher and assistant principal who were involved.
Briley said she agreed with the ACLU that Laconne had been censored, but that no note had been placed in her file. She said she would apologize to the student and try to meet the other demands made by the ACLU.
Based on the recommendations of the division superintendent, "we're going to comply with the guidelines set by the ACLU as best as we can to resolve this matter," Briley said.

she's wearing this shirt ..... a personal way of life that should be kept personal. little kids see that shirt when she wears it. do you want your kids to see that shirt ?? you said that it's the adults that are causing this....... so why don't we just leave it in the hands of our children then and see how long this country stays at the top... we are falling rapidly because of this type of behavior out in public. keep it to yourself in private because that's exactly what it is.... a personal, private issue.
