When I first started I talked my way into a smaller local company pulling mostly coors beer regionally out of va i would get home during the week and weekends only made 27 cents a mile though . If you talk to enough people you may find something at least regional were your home every weekend

I started with pepsi bottling group back in 2007 and still drive for them locally but it took me 4 years to get full time, so I was a temp but they credited me the 4 years of senority and I now get 3 weeks vac and I'm making 27 an hour anything over 8 is overtime plus my benefits made 66000 last year working mon to friday and home every night, when I was a temp I made 18 an hour no benefits though, but put my time in so it is possible to find a good local job.

If you search for a local job as hard as you looked to see if this question was already asked here, then no, you will not find one.

I don't know what Canada is like but where I live it's remote to find local work without a yrs exp.You may find work being home a couple days a week but you still have to go thru training first which means out a month with a trainer. Also the company that hires for what you're looking for,you have to make sure they have customers in your area to take that piticular run.Otherwise you'll have to take OTR untill you do get the exp.I applied with a couple companies for regional and dedicated runs. They both told me they don't have customers in my area to get me home every weekend.
