Well I did the Google Earth thing and looked up the Dallas Terminal, that is if I got the address right and It appears to be a business with reasonable parking to accomodate trucks. There is a tennis court right across the street, perfect, I still like to hit the court on occasion. I'm not quite sure what "small" means in the big picture, some of this stuff I'm just going to have to see on my own.
Its interesting going into this career field seeing all the commercial truck traffic on the street. Yesterday I saw two Swift trucks parked at Walmart and two others from another company. I also passed a Prime Truck, he was on 131 heading North out of GR.

Northtown -- Yeah, we'll post more when the class starts. When I was researching schools, I came across posts on this board from RDTC students and also drivers who were in the "phase 2" where they were riding with a trainer, and those were extremely helpful. It's been a few months since anyone has posted what going through the school is like, so we're planning on posting status during our school period to have a recent description on the forum.
To those who are starting class (or in class) tomorrow the 21st, I will be thinking about you. It's going to be a "bit nippy" this coming week, to put it (very) mildly. STAY WARM and protect exposed flesh. -

Not trying to deviate from the thread but someone was commenting on the TX terminal. The Grand Prairie, TX (Dallas) terminal is small but is better than what we had. It was a Bright Leasing facility. As you come in gate bobtail parking is to the left. The rest is tractor/trailer parking. Plans are to enlarge it down the line. Has office for terminal manager, 2 FM/planners for Tx regional, desks for 2 orientation instructors and a classroom. Drivers room is small with a TV, small table, scanner station and two showers. Currently no shop but does have 3 or 4 bays and shop area. Shop hopefully will be coming in a year or so. Also potential for a truck wash and fuel island. The tennis court belongs to the apartment complex across the street. At least we have gained a scanner, 2 showers and toliets that don't freeze up if the weather takes a cold turn.

Thanks for all the Dallas/Grand Prairie Information. I need to learn to drive and get into the swing of things for a while but Texas is a potential landing ground for me. It's like minus whatever in Grand Rapids right now and even worse in Wisc. The good news on the weather front is that weather.com is showing highs in the low 30's for Marshfield this coming weekend. I've lived in Michigan all my life and am not a wuss, but seriously, it is no fun working outside in the minus zero temperature with winds conditions. I feel bad for those guys doing pretrips this week if they are outside.
Bigdubber Thanks this. -
goblue,
i am from Brighton, MI about an hour north of Detroit. I see your from GR. I have relatives around the Spring Lake area. Just west of you.
Good luck, safe driving and looking forward to picking your brain about the training. I have a family obligation in Feb. or else I'd be right there with you guys in class.
Take care -
Cool Northtown, been through Brighton a number of times, had a gf at UMich many many years ago. Went to the big house many times until they started the high security, just wasn't as fun and I progressed myself to go back to watching the high school football games. LOL, best thing I ever did, my alma matter Grand Rapids Christian won the Div 3 championship this year at Ford Field, best football game I've ever been too.
thanks for the support. I'm actually looking forward to the challenge. At this point I must say that there has been a lot of support for those of us starting up at Roehl, from others and more importantly the current drivers at the company that use this forum. That goes a long way in my book and I am thankful for that. Keep in touch and stay warm.Bigdubber Thanks this.
