when you buy you have to have a lease in place and have 45 days to the first payment, should be plent y of time to get a good start.
let me guess you didnt pay out of pocket for a dyno or full dot inspection, and since you were in a jam you didnt have anything checked to find the fuel mileage problem.
you either had a bad lease or didnt work your business right, and didnt bring in enough revenue . so the truck wasnt over priced, you were under revenue to make it.
not lone mountains fault at all
by the way care to share where you were leased, what trailer you pulled and what your revenue avg was per mile for all miles loaded and empty?
April 3 2013 getting truck from lone mountain. where to go to get truck checked out?

Why does this company call it a "lease" when you're actually buying it and they finance it? Is there a tax reason? As in, does one have to pay sales tax if "leasing" a truck?
-
That is my understanding as it a cost of business write off, with a lease you don't usually end up keeping the item while a payment plan you do. That "difference" is important in the IRS eyes.
-
Pretty common with commercial equipment. As you probably already know, a lease is essentially a contract term rental. Lease or rental payments are expenses and can be written off as such. There's usually a payout at the end (sometimes even $1), where you would take title and now have a "new to you" asset to depreciate (double dip).
Unfortunately, the sellers that offer this sort of thing tend to know exactly what the value will be to the buyer and keep some (or all) of that for themselves in the form of a higher payment.
When you purchase, even with a loan, your only tax benefit is depreciation. Loan payments cannot be written off. -
with a lease reposession is accomplished much easier, as for me the lease where i own the truck with no ballon whatsoever, benefits me much better from a tax standpoint, my trl is also a lease with ownership at the end .
lone mountain's term are disclosed upfront, all is spelled out, if you choose not to get the truck dot inspected and a dyno done, you even sign a paper stated that you have chosen yourself not to do it.
so these claims of trickery and things being wrong with trucks are off base from that standpoint, i think problem is by the time most scrape up a don payment, they have no money to do an inspection and dyno, on the proverbial shoestring and when the string breaks its is someone elses fault.
bout the same thing when most folks change leases, theyre broke, seems no one changes leases til they are flat on their back. -
Honestly anyone who doesn't wait tell they have the money to make the down payment and to have the truck inspected are increasing their chances of failure immensly by being impatient. Yes there is a pride in not being a company driver but if you are so eager to go after that title that you willingly cut corners you are being a fool

well guys thanks for the replies,
I Have learned alot from these forums. And sorry not replying to this thread in awhile. I'm going to lone Mountain in under 2 weeks. I'm finishing off the lease with swift (2 payments left). After that IEL (Swift) lol is going to fax Lone Mountain the end of lease papers.(To show i finished the lease as agreed). Then Lone Moutain is going to the process of approval.(I do feel good about it). After that IEL wants the truck in Memphis body shop. I said ok but how am i getting from there to iowa to pick truck up. Can you help me out there. She said sure we can fly you and your student out to iowa to pick your truck up. I said sweet. So she put in contact with a recruiter with swift to get the process of what i need from lone Mountain to get the new truck leased on to swift. After Looking over the truck and doing a rig dig on the truck ill do a dyno and dot inspection on truck.(hopefully goes good) Ill be driving to the edwardsville termil to get the stickers and qualcomm on truck.
Now what i do at swift is pickup refeer loads in costco in morris il. and drive a 300-600 mile raduis from there. I get payed % on each load. I like where i am due to family and not far from home when truck breaks down. also home on weekends.
Things that will make me more money inn my pocket
1 lower truck payment 700-1300 cheaper(reason for big gap some months have 5 weeks)
2 getting the NASTC fuel card through fleetone
3 learned how to slow down
4 truck i want is a 13 speed and should help with fuel
5 micheline tires with low rolling resistant
i can have a long list of things i have read these forums and listen to the road truckers on seruis radio alot.
i will update more from this point on
