You probably can/will get hired somewhere O.P.; it may not be your dream job at first-and wherever it is EXPECT a LOT of drug screens. It's the way the "game" is played.

Didn't get the response you were looking for did you... well then keep justifying the fact that you have an assault on your record... I am certain I know more than you think about hiring practices...

You did the wrong thing and now maybe trucking isn't for you!!! Because of YOUR actions....

You have a good day and stop using this site looking for sympathy!!! Move on this job isn't for everyone!!!

Oh yea this post has been approved by all the truckers who actually do the right thing!!!

Maffy I'm sure you know all things. We bow down to your excellency and knowledge. I'm so glad there are guys who never get caught. Or of course they never do anything to get caught doing. But for those of us who have had our hand in the cookie jar and have been caught with the crumbs on our mouth. May our slate be clean one day and learn how to always do the right thing. You are our hero. May God bless you. But maybe you are god. In humility we trust.

Good luck on your future endevours...

BTW you could have asked for help as there are people on here with small fleets that would have considered hiring you but after reading some of your post I don't believe thats possible.

Thank you sir. Kinder words have never been spoken.

To the op. Yes there may be a few small outfits that will hire you, but you probably will do better in another line of work. Trucking companies and operators love to have the upper hand on individuals. Just read some of the post from this tread and then zoom to the end and see how it worked out. May God bless you and lead you.

Main thing holding the Op back is the assault charge. The pot certainly don't help , but when employers , especially employers in the trucking industry hire a driver they know that sooner or later that the driver is going to be put into a stressful situation either with a dock-hand or a receiving clerk or a security officer (gate guard)...IT IS gonna happen. When they see that assault charge then almost automatically they disqualify that applicant. They can ill afford to hire someone who already has proven that they have anger issues.

To the OP....I understand your frustration and all , but those folks that gave you the truth did not try and judge you....by your own admission you broke the law and were charged with doing so. No reason for you to start with "you don't know me "...or "you were not there"....if you come on an open forum and ask for opinions, then get those that you don't want to hear..then don't ask for then to start with. You made a couple of "mistakes" ....it ain't the end of the world.....Man-up , get your record clean and move on......

By his own admission he refused entry into his home to his ex wife, which he has every right to do providing the dwelling is HIS and not THEIRS. That said when she attempted to enter the home after being informed she wasn't welcome, he (again assuming the home is HIS he had every right to do the following) shut the door trapping the trespassers foot between the door and the door-frame ... thus being charged with "assault"

He didn't beat her to a bloody pulp, he refused a trespasser entry to his property. You Americans are big on constitutional rights, my advice is stick with it because some of the comments on here are more along the lines of the views people have here in Canuckistan.

This comment is nothing but my own speculation and relies on the assumption that the dwelling was his and only his. If the dwelling in question was shared well ... disregard this comment completely.

That said, reading this thread I've finally figured out what's wrong with the trucking industry in the states. Multiculturalism !!! Same problem we have with society up here since Trudeau opened the floodgates. Too many extreme opposite views on everything, some of opinions/views being outright socialist mentality. Maybe you guys really are ready for universal health care lol. In Canada unless your looking at major carriers you would be able to categorize most of the drivers you encounter in the same group. In the states, there seems to be a plethora of groups belonging to trucking, and herein lies the problem. Multiculturalism has always brought upon trouble wherever it has taken place take a look at history ...

Disclaimer 2: Multiculturalism means multiculturalism. Not multiracial. It doesn't matter if ye be black or white or yellow or a beaner, it's the cultural aspects you hold dear that cause the problems. (ie. popular opinion in the bible belt is that guns are sacred, in Seattle the view is that they should be banned. Culture ... not race is the devil here.)
