Why anybody writing a book on the trucking life would feel compelled to include a chapter on Lot Lizards is beyond me. Would a book about any other profession include a chapter on hookers just because some use them?

Not to discount your experience, but what you recounted for us was NOT a typical experience. It certainly was not a healthy relationship to say the least.

Please do us a BIG favor and don't do
    it.

    Back on topic now.

Easy. Sex sells. That would be the most remembered and talked about chapter in the entire book, and some people would only buy it to read that particular chapter. She's a smart cookie.

Best thing about owning your own truck............You can have whatever you want in it. I have an inverter with Dorm fridge, microwave, coffee pot, and a electric skillet.

To anyone wondering why this topic is in the cooking on the truck section, I am responding to a comment which was in response to my post which covered mostly cooking on the truck, what we cooked on etc and how it was living on the truck. It also had a part about a book being written about trucking which will include a chapter on lot lizards.

Regarding the unhealthy relationship. You are right, it wasn't healthy at all. That is why I left him. I deserve much better. He was lucky to have me in his life as long as he did.
As far as writing a book with a chapter on lot lizards, that is one chapter that I considered not doing. I wouldn't want to glorify them or what they do.
However, it seems to be the one profession where prostitutes or lot lizards are the most prolific.

You don't see prostitutes trying to jump into a cable truck wanting to give a cable installer attention as he pulls up to someone's house to install cable.
You don't typically hear of a prostitute walking into a lawyers office and climbing onto his desk to offer herself up for money. If that ever happened, she was invited.
A cook doesn't turn around in the restaurant kitchen to find a prostitute looking at him wanting to service him while he is stirring the cream sauce.
I am pretty sure a police officer isn't going to be propositioned by a prostitute while he is on the job. It may happen if they are trying to get out of a criminal charge of some sort but not just by them walking up and asking if he wants to have some fun for pay.
Teachers don't have a group of prostitutes hanging around the playground when they are supervising children and asked by them if they want company.
Firemen don't find prostitutes hanging off of their fire trucks on their way to a fire, offering to fire them up while they are putting one out. That example may seem drastic but I have already heard stories of prostitutes climbing onto trucks when they are parked and as they are moving. One didn't jump off until it was going so fast that she rolled when she finally did jump. She was warned to get off by the driver but was being persistent.

Doctors and nurses don't normally have to worry about being approached by a prostitute while they are walking down the halls of a hospital.

An accountant doesn't walk to his office and have to walk by a group of prostitutes hanging out in the hallways of his office building.

I could go on and give examples of why a person would include a chapter on lot lizards when writing about the truck driving profession but not when writing about other professions but I think my point should be well taken.

The analogy of comparing any other profession to the truck driving profession when it comes to lot lizards or prostitutes doesn't apply because of the examples I gave.
The reason a book about the "truck driving life" would have a chapter on lot lizards is because it is relevant.

If someone were to write a book about any other profession, it really wouldn't make sense to include a chapter on the availability of prostitution while on the job or on a break from that job like it is with truck drivers.

With the trucking profession, prostitutes or lot lizards as they are called at truck stops, are a fact of life in some places, that is why it would be included as a chapter.

Lot lizards aren't at all truck stops and when they are, there may only be a few, other times there may be a lot, especially if it is a very large truck stop in a large city.

They are among truck drivers at a much higher percentage rate than any other profession.

Because truck drivers generally take 10 and sometimes 34 hour breaks at truck stops, they are easy prey to lot lizards who are looking for a way to make money.

Even drivers who just pull in to fuel, weigh, eat, or shower may get approached by a lot lizard if there are lot lizards there trying to make money.

Another factor that makes people in this profession much more likely to be approached by lot lizards compared to other professions is because many of the truck drivers are on the road for days, weeks and months at a time.
This fact makes truck drivers vulnerable to lot lizards offering themselves up for a paid service because they know that many of these men on the road generally haven't had sexual relations for a while, sometimes for a very long time.
They count on this being a reason for a truck driver to want "company" and anything that goes along with that "company"
Unless a truck driver has a woman traveling with him on the truck to fulfill their need for "company", it can be a very lonely job.

I know the long hours, endless miles and all of the work that a truck driver puts into their job. It can be a very hard and demanding life at times.

I lived it for 18 month, at least four weeks at a time every time out.

Truck drivers, especially long-haul drivers are one of the most unappreciated professions out there considering what they do for everyone else by bringing them their "stuff" while living out of that truck.

I understand that it gets lonely and the drivers who have a wife or girlfriend back at home may have a hard time dealing with the loneliness and lack of sexual activities while out on the road.

I personally believe that most of the truck drivers don't take these lot lizards up on their offers though.
It is probably a very small percentage. But that small percentage probably amounts to a large number still, considering how many truck drivers there are on the road.

It is the stories of that small percentage that I want.

And to be fair, it is why I said I would get the stories from the lot lizards too, in order to get their perspective on the truck drivers using lot lizards for "company".
If I am able to get any of them to talk to me, I think I will come up with some interesting stories from their point of view also.

Just baught my second stinger. It actually went down in price, from $20 to $12. I gotta say this one gets hotter even faster than my last one. It also has a clip to hold itself up inside the cup.

today i heated up water in about 5 min to cook my top ramen soup.

I'm thinking a mini crock pot would be handy. Slow cook a roast while your driving all day.

Open flame, carbon monoxide and flammable gas inside the truck is definitely NOT the way to go. Outside the truck, yes - inside, no.
