Non brokered loads? (reefer)

You need to find a logistics person that is willing to listen to your sales pitch and what you can do for them that 1,000 other trucks can do for them.

sure can, start with the shipping manager or dock supervisor find out a buyers name in the purchasing dept. might be called logistcs now and good luck to you.

 

It's quite simple in the corp world. Big Business likes to deal with Big Business, Small businesses prefers to deal with Small business.
Walmart has specific routes they have their drivers run. For those routes that cost them more, they seek outside carriers. We're talking about DC to DC mostly. Good luck competing with the big guys(You can't run as cheap as they can).

As far as most shippers out there:
Most of the consistent lanes you get, pay average to lesser than average, but sometimes they pay good if you have a good record and are reliable. Carriers and brokers bid on these lanes Quarterly, semi Annually, or Annually depending on the customer; using a process called[FONT=arial, sans-serif] Request for Proposal (RFP). That's a long story.
So simply put, if you have guaranteed work (On Contract), you will usually run a little/lot cheaper. The positive: You won't have to worry about looking for work and you won't worry about the slow season and it's low rates because you will have contract pay. The only thing that fluctuates is FSC. The Negative: You have to fulfill your contract and cover your lanes even if you take a loss sometimes and In the busy season.. ooo boy you will miss out [/FONT]

 

Most large companies won't deal with you unless you are a trucking company of significant size. The majority of the ones we move freight for want 250 trucks minimum. That said, you need to get in touch with the logistics manager or transportation management department.

 

Being from TN, dont know why yall havent tried getting in on some of the loads out of Perdue Farms in Monterey,TN. Be safe out there drivers.

 

Tyson has a plant in Goodlettsville, TN on I-65 Southbound just North of Associated Grocers Whse.

Another place to check is the frozen food place (can't remember the name), right behind Uncle Pete's Truckstop in Lebanon. Many of their loads go to Publix in GA & FL, but many other states also, mostly frozen cakes, very lightweight.
