Like others said do direct deposit and each of you have a debit card unless you don't trust her. :)

Walmart has the best deal on wire transfers. I believe it's $3?

If you need cash the best bet is "cash back" option at Walmart or grocery stores which is free. I use to go to the customer service desks at grocery stores if I needed extra money. Many will let you have $200 or more. Just ask. Then there aren't any fees attached.

pilot/flying j can do western union both ways if you need to send or get cash. Easier than finding a Walmart that you can get a truck into.

$17 a pop adds up quickly. If you let it drivers can rack up service fees real quick. If you are going to spend $17 you might as well give them a ATM card.

Another service is online companies like Netspend. I use it solely for online purchases. It costs $5 a month and transfers are free. If someone steals my identity they ain't getting much. You can set something like that up with two accounts for $10 a month and have all the transfers you want. You can do it all from the convenience of your phone or computer.

Paypal lets you transfer money using an email address or mobile phone number.
According to their mobile app, there's no fee if you use your Paypal balance or a domestic bank account.
I'm gonna try it later today & will post the results.

I have chase too and if its to another chase account its there within minutes. The email shows up, they accept and it's there. My daughter is in college and we do this whenever she needs money and there is no cost.

Stop at Walmart to send a money transfer. It only costs $4.75 for any amount. Its way cheaper than Western Union.

I was gonna suggest paypal too. Then you dont need access to each others accounts. Or open a joint account with you and you wife or whoever at the same bank as you use. This is what I have done. Both these ways you can simply do it from a smart phone for free, as long as you call it a gift if you use paypal.

With Paypal, it's a bank-to-bank transfer on a smartphone or laptop. No finding a Walmart, no carrying extra cash. It's very easy to do.

Western union gets expensive though if too many times and especially from a trk stop.
