Put a little engine oil in the suction line before the pump. When there bled down it helps them draw a little better. And crack the discharge until you get fuel.
S 60 will not start and I am getting discouraged.

I was going to ask you if you have fuel. Seen that happen alot.
-
You know, that does make sense. The Detroits heat the fuel pretty well. I could see the fuel expanding to cover the fuel inlet in the tank, and when it cools the level would drop low enough to allow the inlet to suck air. Never thought about low fuel level in the tanks.
-
That second oil pressure sensor/switch is probably just for a "low oil pressure" warning light in the dash. If you get squared away with the fuel situation, did you verify the check and stop engine lights are coming on?
-
I thought you would of made absolute sure fuel is in the tanks. first thing to check.
-
No doubt if it was parked with hot fuel GOOD point!!!! If the pump has a hard time picking up fuel I would still prime the line with some oil.
-
would the fuel cool off that much in the short time he took to top off his coolant after the coolant light came on?
it's been a long time since i owned a 90's S-60; can one hardwire the fuel shutoff solenoid to 12v to see if the engine fires then? -
There is no fuel shut off solenoid on Detroit's, that is on a Cummins.
-
The checkand stop engine lights are coming on along with the check fluids light, they stay on about 4 seconds and go out until you try to start. While cranking, the check fluids light flickers off and on.
going to try gravity feed fuel soon as warms up enough to get back out in the field. -
Carried ten gallons of fuel to truck and put in tank before doing anything else, felt that if ran out of fuel that would be plenty to bring level back up. Forgot that I had moved truck about six feet. Must be more downhill than I thought.
