"A New Brunswick truck driver is in serious condition in hospital after he was run over by his own truck in Somerville over the weekend.
Officials say it appears the driver didn't set the truck's braking system before he stepped out of the cab on Saturday afternoon.
When he stepped down, the truck rolled over him.

The driver underwent surgery at a Moncton hospital, where he is recovering."

We all get into routines; then one day you get distracted, and the routine gets you. Be careful out there, folks.

he GOT quite a violation...and some out there think thats about what the punishment should be. darn all those evil, horrible truck drivers anyway.

op...yes we all get into routines, and can all think of times where we couldve been paying a little more attention. but, if there is one part of trucking that seems the MOST routine, it would be setting the brakes before opening the door, wouldnt it?????????certainly not saying ANYONE deserves to get run over, but that ranks right up there with the stupidest things ive ever heard of a truck driver doing.

Pokerhounds67, Love your comment because you probably did something stupider. I forgot mine once while hookin on a trailer with about 35000 in the nose and sitting on a slope. It would slide across the 5th wheel and go down hill on mee. After about 12 tries I was agravated, and I was frest, had come off 1 week off, picked up an ety and driven about 120 miles to the wharehouse. I ahve done dumb stuff in my lifetime and in 2.3 million miles survived it all without an accident. I hauled Bulls and would stay up 36 hrs back in the 70s. Back then the DOT overlooked Bullwagons.

i'll admit to forgetting to set my brakes after dropping my fourth trailer of the day. dropped the landing gear, pulled the hoses, grabbed the pin puller, and gave the fifth wheel a good yank, only to watch my truck slowly roll from under the trailer. first thing i did after jumping into the cab and pulling the button was to look about and see if anyone was watching.

I too have been ###### lucky at times.

So far I've only forgot to set the parking brakes 1 time. When I opened the door to get out, the alarm went off, and I looked and didn't see the little parking brake symbol on the dash. Yep if I don't set the parking brake there's a ding, ding, ding, alarm that goes off when you open the door. I think it's not annoying enough, it needs to be a loud one of these...
