Or, us swifties could practice being as ignorant as drivers at your company and we'll all be one happy family!

    have a nice day.

Funny thing is Swift gets the rap because they the biggest company around, everyone who makes fun of them forgets one thing, at some point YOU where a rookie driver and just because you didn't have a big flag on the side of your truck that people knew you still made as many dumb ### mistakes and such. Don't even try to say you were a perfect driver the first time you drove a truck, because if you try and say that you where, then you know your lying about that the same way you lied about the length of something else to impress your girlfriend.

My impressions...I have a lot to learn. I can see myself doing this for awhile. It's way to early to make any long lasting decisions. I have to give it a chance to see if I can handle it as well as my wife. As frustrated as I've been over the last month I have to say I've enjoyed it more than not.

I'm certain you were born in the drivers seat, shifter in your hand. You've had a long career of no mistakes and one success after another. Probably rolling in money and just drive now as a hobby and to be seen as a regular Joe to your many employees. I'll look up to you and strive to be what you've become. I doubt I'll make it but, I'll do my level best.

Thanks for your informative comments. I'm sure the other newbies have learned a lot from your post, I know I have.

Thank you for that. We all started somewhere!

its easy to make fun of SWIFT for seeimg 10 swift mistakes in a day. 10 is not a lot when you factor in 20,000+ tractors.

Hey Sheriff wondering how much you take home every week if you don't mind me asking. I'm looking at leaving a job in correction and starting with Swift and was wondering how much of a pay cut if any ill be taking.

So far I haven't taken home anything over $500 in a week. My next check is going to be about $350 as I didn't have many miles for that week. The one after that will be around $400 and I would say it was average. It's still way to early to tell what it's going to be like. I know this is the slow time of year. I've been waiting around for loads a lot the last couple of weeks. Hope that helps.

Sheriff, thanks for doing a detail about your new driving career. Lots of info from makes it kinda of easier to think if I ought to do this. I'm retired military (only 6.5 years army, medical discharge) and I have been seriously thinking about going into trucking since it is what I was doing for the Army. Anyway, thanks for the info and stay sharp out their.

It's another day in the life of a new truck driver. Here I sit, waiting for a load to take me home. I've been out for 26 days now. According to the Swift kiosk I've driven around 8900 miles. More than I thought but less than what was actual because it doesn't count the time I was lost in Denver for an hour or so. For those of you who've asked I went back and did the math about the money I made.

    Net Total $ 1545.40

This makes my take home pay at about .17CPM

This final earnings number does not include my last trip. It won't be paid of it until Feb. If you add that in I will have netted a total of $1911.42 for the month of January. That number could go up some if I get a load back to Boise before the end of the month.

I do not want to sit in Sumner for a week waiting for a load.

Again, if you have questions, just ask.

Bigdubber, B*Rocka and secorp Thank this.
