This company has no freight. Over 150 agents working with multiple company's and/or brokering themselves. Unless you've been here for 5 or more years you get the bottom of the pile. I understand thats how it always works but when you only get a few direct loads a month and the rest off the load board brokered or double brokered with the same agent who works with your own company. Thats ridicules that they would rather broker you a load than just give it to me.
Don't tell me they make more I know. Then you've got the idiots that take it. Just hold out ITs cheaper to shut the truck off or relocate 2-300 miles and look again. Some eventually call me back and offers a better price. (Not great just better than it was. You still gotta ask them for food money.)
Need a flatbed O/O company. Landstar, No hazmat. Mercer, Waiting on 5 over to fall off. ATS Says 14-21 days then home. What if I wanted to work for a mth or 2. Or even work hard thru the summer and take the winter off. Its my truck my choice.

I was in a lease program with ATS, A Capitol Lease Program (I was actually buying the truck), and leased on with them as an O/O. I live in Austin, TX, not the greatest place for freight, but great because a lot of freight passes through Austin on its was somewhere else. I was home all the time. Maybe only for a 10 break, or a weekend, sometimes four or five times during the week. I was never out for more than two weeks unless I really, really wanted to be out. When you lease or are leased on with them, you run your business the way you want. As long as you take care of your bills, you take whatever time off you want. Some drivers will come in with a check for a few months of truck and insurance payments and take time off. No one at ATS ever said anything to me about it, but I worked pretty hard and made them a lot of money.

They told me even as an o/o That you should to be out 14 or 21 days. Then 2 or 3 days off. If you wanted to be out for a month or go home every week that it would not fit with the cycle. They have set it up that way for there customers. If you do not work with the cycle you won't make money and you might as well have your own company because those decisions are for them.
Also when you empty you be given a load you can either take it or pass. If you pass whats next???? A load to a dead area. A load that pays worse but to a good area. Could be nothing and they say we have nothing else in your area. My area is big. I've DH for 700 miles to pick up a 1200 mile run.
Most of the time I have to find freight off the load boards but I'm not optimizing my time. Agents should be calling me or looking at your load board with direct freight. We have that here but as I said before a lot of it is brokered from the agents brokering company or you haven't been there for 10+ yrs.Last edited: Jan 26, 2013

you can take all the time off you want they will let you sit your way into foreclosure if you want. i went home for three weeks in dec. as far as load offers first to unload in a load area the first offered. so generally when you unload your at the bottom of the board they offer you what everyone else has picked through sit and wait you climb the board and offered better paying freight.

I had some on here and changed my mind. I'm not going to explain myself.
No I will not go broke working less than they suggest you don't know my bills.
No I will not take the 1st load offered and hope its the best.
If you have a company to suggest that has a load board so I can look and see whats there. Will let me work when and how I want.
flat step rgn hh go ahead and suggest.
I don't take cheap freight and double brokered loads.
If not well say want you want I know everybody has a right to there opinion. Don't mean I have to like.
Just kinda wish you'd keep it on another thread.Last edited: Jan 26, 2013

Just get your own authority... isn't that why you went in business yourself ?
Then you can find your own freight at the rates you want and work as you need.
