I live about 200mi from the nearest drop yard and have land so they let me take a trailer home with me. Might work out for unloader, but if he lives in CO he will probably drop at crshen (thats near Denver for the newbies)

Woot, someone from my class!

I'm sorry I may have been unclear, what I meant was what amount should one set aside as a minimal maintenance account? I can set aside what I need for home time and other expenses like cash tolls on my own and not have to worry about incurring a fee.
I'd also like to know who is eligible for the O/O upgrade bonus and for how much if anyone knows? -
Good-luck...listen to the trainers and study hard your first week. You get three strikes in school and you don't want to "waste" one by failing your permit test. You may need them all the following week with the skills test. I also recommend that your group work together. It did wonders for our group and it made us all a little closer too. In fact we all exchanged phone numbers today.

There is no set number... Some don't use an outside bank, some only use an outside bank... Others like us use a combo of both... We like to keep a balance around 2000. That covers one week home and a set of tires
Doulos Thanks this. -
So I sent another e-mail to express my concern about the safety of the motoring public once newbie 8 gets out on the road on his own. We are now being routed to crswvc so they can evaluate him. They tried to call him, but could not understand him on the phone, so I guess they decided a face to face would be better. I'll be there on the 30th if anyone will be kicking around there then let me know.
As with most things in life, and I never thought i would say this about him. Since I sent the email this morning he has been doing great, no grinding gears, no running cars off the road, uses his turn signal, and did everything I asked him to without argument. Had he done this yesterday I would not have sent the email. It's kinda like when your kid is sick but he feels fine when you get to the doctor's office. I'm kinda hopping he has a relapse next week around the 30th so they don't think I'm crazy. -
I was kind of second guessing reporting Newbie 8, because last night and today he has been doing great, but he just clenched it. We stopped to get fuel and I had to go to the bathroom. I helped to get him started and told him I had to go to the bathroom and to pull forward to the pay line when he finished. There is a strict rule that trainees are not allowed to move the truck without the trainer there (save for the pay line). Well when I came out he was trying to back into a spot and blocking traffic. Definitely not the pay line. He did an ok job and picked a spot with no other trucks around, but still rules are rules and that one is near the top.

Was hoping to get in to Fontana mid next week for upgrade but our DM was having problems finding something to cover the weekend out of Reno. Ended with a run to Cheyenne (a whopping 969 miles for 3 days). Hoping we get something good Monday morning when we deliver so we can run hard and get me in before the end of the week.
When we deliver Monday ill have 31 hours left. -
Ok, I think I have the trainee trump card. My 9th student was driving in Minnesota and pi$$ed in the driver seat. Claimed it was an occasional issue, not on purpose, but he was ok. Issue from childhood injury he said. Next day, did again, AT THE SHIPPER!! was good the next day, then on last day before we got to Atlanta he did again while driving. I kicked him off trk, central bought me a new seat, leather, and he was reassigned a new trainer.
biggbowler Thanks this. -
That is hilarious and sad at the same time! I love hearing these trainee stories! Keep them coming!
Somebody should compile a list of these kind of stories and turn it into a book.
