I am a past owner that now wants to be an operator.
I have not decided what trucking company or school to attend as of yet.
I Know what I am searching for but need assistance in finding the right fit.
I have searched many companies' websites and very few give detail info on their equipment.
Could you please inform me on the following:
Company, Truck Year, Truck MFG, Truck Model, Eng Type, Transmission Type, Sleeper Size, and any extras such as apu, inverter, refridge, side cameras etc.
It would be greatly appreciated, not only by me but many other newbies that are searching for the same info.
God Bless
What type of equipment does your company use?

If the type of equipment the company is using will be a deciding factor for you, I respectfully say that you have your priorities mixed up a bit.

I'll give you a little information on companies with nice equipment. Some have APU's & a choice of auto/manual transmissons. You can research the websites for other details. You are in Alabama?
Tribe Transport - APU's & year model 2013 Pete's
Howard Transportation
National Carriers
Benny Whitehead Trucking
Marten Transport
Interstate Distributor
Stevens Transport
Miller Transporters
TMC
Maverick
Melton Truck Lines
TransAm
Keep in mind, be prepared when you start applying & have all your endorsements, tanker/hazmat, passport, TWIC. Many companies that don't make a practice of hiring new CDL drivers, will make an exception to those applicants that are well prepared. It takes a while to get prepared, and sometimes a company needs a driver right now that has TWIC or passport, etc. and can't afford to wait a couple of months for him to get his ducks in a row.Last edited: Jan 27, 2013

Not really messed up priorities. Equipment is very important. You are out here most of the time, you should do the best you can to be at home. Most of the drivers out here that don't care about the equipment are miserable pricks. Equipment is at the top of our list when we switch companies. At one now with great equipment and we run. Will be staying. We have a brand new, loaded Cascadia, including fridge, APU, and inverter. With our own microwave, TV, xbox, laptop, etc... Treat it like home and you wont always feel like you're at work. We cook, clean, and relax!
(not for nothing, you're in a day cab) Oh and never needed a TWIC or passport, drove for pleny of companies before I found the right one.Numb and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
Not that equipment can't be considered, but the OP's post made it seem much more important than I think it would be considering other factors. -
Well that's you. It's not 'cooler' it's caring about the drivers enough to make them comfortable and happy.

Dependable equipmenis tops on my list... If a company can't maintain their equipment, then that means I won't make $$ and that will result in me saying...Adiós
Trucail Thanks this. -
Once I complete my obligation with what ever company I choose I will purchase another truck. Hopefully it is the truck that I have been using, so now you see why it is so important to me.

I already have everything but Hazmat, can not get it till I move to AL..It is the only endorsement that is not transferable although I am ready to take the test now. -
Yes I agree that the equipment is most important to me. It will be one of the determining factors for which company I choose. I eventually want to purchase another truck and if it is the one I have been driving then I know how it runs and how well it has been kept up. I will not go with any company that does not have an apu. Like I said I was an owner once and I know how much fuel is consumed when a truck idles in hot or cold weather and with the new idle regs and trucks that want idle after a certain amount of time an apu is paramount.
I will not go with a company where I will not be comfortable in the truck. I will be cooking daily in the truck. If you have not seen a Nu Wave Oven you should check it out. It is the greatest thing for cooking and reheating in I have ever used. So I will need a fridge or at least a truck that is prewired for one and has or will allow a 2000 watt inverter. Like I said eventually I hope that it will be my truck. I will not lease it, I will buy it.
I already have permit and all my endorsements except Hazmat, it is not transferable so I will have to take that test after I move to AL. Although I am ready to pass it now.
