I've heard of hat happening as well, but I think he would have to complete his probation and keep his nose clean until then, showing that he is a "upstanding" member of the community, etc.....

Hi Matt we all make mistakes,i'm not going to judge you. Before even attempting to get your CDL you better ask around and see if anyone would hire you.Otherwise you maybe wasting all that time and money on a useless CDL.Then with what's on your record is adouble whammy. In trucking most don't hire with convictions.

At 18, you're still young, so give the CDL route a try. You probably won't make much until you're 21 and can go OTR. If you're in logging country, can probably haul logs out of the woods to the pulp mills. Maybe get a delivery job such as furniture, dairy milk, building supplies all within the state. Check websites Careerbuilder and Indeed, and make a list of what you find that is applicable to you so you can be prepared the day you graduate from CDL school. Even after age 21 you will not be able to enter Canada. There are several OTR companies that will hire you for OTR later in life. That's my take on the situation.

If the state started your sentencing in Juvenile detention? Then that right there means any definitions of or marks against as if you were an adult while prosecuted just simply do not apply period. Even if they could extend the probation through your 21st birthday, it still stands as an juvenile prosecution, and the Offender classification cannot be applied. There is some mixup here, a good attorney will clear this one up one way or the other quickly. What state? There should be a ACLU office located somewhere's there. Least you can do is call them, there could be help waiting.

Well your 18 now, so you got 3 years till your 21, go to your local DMV and get the CDL licence book, learn everything about semi trucks and trailers air brakes etc. Then take the test and get your CDL learners premit. Start going around where you live to small companies that have trucks and just let them know your willing to work hard and looking for a opportunity to learn the business of driving. Even try own operators, cement or dump truck companies etc. Even look for straight truck dev. driving jobs, and work your way up. Hope some of this helps and maybe we'll all see you out there some day and you can let us know about your learning adventure.

    you plead guilty didn't you?

Sorry to hear of your problems. Sounds like mom was a real winner. Yeah, I had an ex at that age her mom was the same way.

Since you were both at about the same age, I am really surprised they got this to stick. Especially if you were both minors, 17 and 16. The age difference isn't enough to warrant what they did.

Had you been 27 and her 16, THEN you deserve getting hacked on it. But not both the same age.

I'd be finding a new lawyer and see what they can do for you. You got screwed.
