I figured I better try and get this figured out. Since I've been using pilot cars in MT alot. I've not had great luck with the CB last year. When doing radio checks before moving out, everything is great. Once out on the road, I can hear fairly well, but I come across as scratchy, and not able to be heard well.
I've got a Uniden PC68 in the truck, with two wilson silverload antenna's, ( they SWR's out great one is almost 1.1 and the other was a 1.3). I'm also running dual strobe beacons, which do come through the CB with the squealch down low enough.
I'm thinking of putting LED beacons on the truck, to see if it helps. I don't think the LED's will help the stationary, vs. moving bit though.
Wondering what the experts here think?
CB works well when stationary, not so much when moving

The first thing that comes to me is the nylon washer in the antenna mount. If its cracked or worn enough to allow the antenna to ground out under wind load.
They wear out after a few years and need to be replaced.

If possible, check the swr while moving. It may be higher than the standing reading, but if it pegs or comes close to it, its a bad ground.

Any resolution to this yet?

I kinda forgot about this post (notifications don't seem to be working). Unfortunately I won't know until April-May when I get back into the truck. That time can't get here fast enough.
BigByrd47119 Thanks this.
