Depending on the Load sometimes I might have a bit of extra time.
If I set my Alarm for 4am (or whatever) and don't feel like getting up, I just go back to sleep.
Or along the same lines If I don't want to drive 10h today, I just shutdown early.
And as long as the load gets there on time and legally nobody gives a.....
Try that with a Regular Job.WV_Daddys_Girl and Dinomite Thank this. -
2hellandback - I do appreciate your honest answer. Although I don't condone the action, I do not judge; whatever makes you happy, more power to ya.

Mainly the job security and being able to be in demand. I don't take any crap from my bosses like most people do. There really is no more freedom. Someone in an office makes a mistake they don't get a 1200.00 dollar ticket for example. Used to be a great wonderful occupation when we respected one another and our industry, but it has gone through a complete metamorphosis since I have been involved and is now more like some sick abortion of a lifestyle. I am only thankful i got to experience it at a better time but a time that is definitely gone forever. From the closing of mom and pop truck stops to the complete trash huge companies recruit and "train" , it is very absurd. Then they cry about driver shortage after 90% pf new drivers get awful training and tricked/scammed into losing their ### in a lease purchase. They leave broken and poorer than they came in and will never return but yet the same scum bag companies cry about a shortage. Ya a shortage of Scam victims maybe. It is what it is and I do what I do I am too old to change now to a more decent profession that does not prey on the poor and the bright eyed.

Going home is the main thing. Not having someone looking over your shoulder is a good thing, but with some company's put dash cams on the truck takes a little away from that. My company talked about putting cams in the cab to make sure we were driving properly, using signals and the like. They changed their mind after they found out they would have no drivers LOL. Plus they may get offended by some of the things I do in the cab sometimes
WV_Daddys_Girl Thanks this.
