Ive never seen a driver go under a trailer before taking off.CSA is a joke.I hit a deer, made a report, told the officer I was going to truckstop to get headlight fixed and was told ok. 30 miles down the road I get pulled over and after it was explained what I was doing he inspected me anyways.38 points I recieved that night.was that preventable? no.When I explain to companies how I have such a high score they usually consider me as a good employee but warn me not to get anymore points.DOT has a history of making up stuff to make themselves look all powerful. When I get stop now I just pray it will be a cheap fix

Well I'm not speaking for all drivers but I was a local fuel driver with this company. I check my lights, lug nuts, tires and air bags on the trailer. Yes I did pay for my CDL through truck driving school! Yes I have never physically went under the trailer and inspected all of the problems under it. Another thing I left out is that trailer was fresh out the shop but like I said they only so called patch up the problems. Well all said and done it will be off of my record in Dec. The good thing is as we speak I just got hired on with a good company. My record was clean before so hopefully after this it stays this way.

well let this be a lesson learned then. Start doing your pretrips properly and checking under the trailer. I ALWAYS tug on my slacks and crawl under to check my trailer. Just because they're automatic doesn't mean they still adjust properly, and just because a shop is supposed to take care of them doesn't mean they will. That goes for both company drivers and O/O's it's not just a matter of safety it's a matter of protecting ourselves from having even more laws shoved up our arses. Good luck with the new company wish you the best.

Folks the CSA SCORES were made to get rid of alot of Drivers, this was being pushed believe it or not? by the big Mega Companies like Werner, JB Junt, Schneider, to get rid of the little guy! These mega companies want to get rid of the mom and pop owner operators and the same goes with the on board electronic computers that will track your hours of service. They Know the little guy cheats on the paper log and if the Mega Carriers Attorneys keep pushing the Computers, the little guy will be out and everybody will be a Company Driver for them. There is no way every good driver can escape these CSA 2010 regulations! thats why you avoid Weigh Stations and be a step ahead of the DOT's!
snowblind Thanks this. -
If you do not pretrip your equipment you have no reason to complain. Yes I use a creeper and go under the tractor & trailer, how else can you check it. OP stated missing springs, How could you miss that. At this point it is just as much your fault as your bosses.

This is a joke post Right. You must be trying to pull our leg.
Cuz there is no way you are pulling a fuel tanker in that crappy of a condition. You don't even bend your lazy self over to look under the trailer. Any self respecting DOT officer should have wrote you up so much your CDL would have a minimum 90 day suspension
You are unsafe and shouldn't be able to share the road with anyone. -
Well Land Shark I'm glad to see you feel that way but I start my new job Monday. Thanks for you opinion though
-
No.. it wasn't.. the scores going to the drivers, the points go to the carriers, so that's truck driver hysteria talking.. NONE of the large carriers like CSA and most are fighting it because it is more unfair to the large carriers than to the mom and pop shops.
-
Here is some truck driver hysteria for ya..............show us where you can find these so called drivers scores.Driver of the year Thanks this.

Ever hear of the PSP? Pre-Employment Screening Program? Its part of the CSA .. this is the report that the companies get.. they take their PSP Scores with them when they go to other companies
