Hey everyone I'm sure this topic will be covered in orientation but I'm curious at the moment how maintenance works on company drivers trucks. Like when things get done, who pays for what that sort of thing. Anyone willing to share information about this topic would be great. Thanks.

Are you Leasing?
-
No I'm not.

It's their truck, they pay for all of the maintenance. If you break down they pay you $65/day for down time. The only thing you have to do is put the truck in the shop or call in and report problems over the phone.

Oh okay. Sounds good. How often does the oil need to be changed and that sort of thing? I'm used to cars being every 5k but I'm sure that's not how often a truck gets it. Any other frequently needed maintenance things I should be aware of?
-
Check the oil, coolant levels, do a pretrip and inspect the different systems (primarily the most important things you have to check are the brakes, steering and tires). They change the oil once a year, and they do a quarterly maintenance inspection and fix things.

Wow okay. Learning new things all the time. Thanks for the info.
-
Once a year? Wow! Last guy I drove for changed the oil every 20K miles.
-
See how often you are called in for your PM B Oil date LOL
-
That's what I would have thought as well somewhere around 15-20k but then I've also heard of bus companies doing the same thing. Changing it once a year.
