No reason he should have to sit 30 miles from home. They should have just said go home ill call you when we get a load. That's just silly.

Hubby off with a load to PA - wife and kids saying prayers!
goblue Thanks this. -
Question for you new guys, how many miles are you guys getting per week? Is it usually slow this time of year? Is it picking up at Roehl at all? If you dont mind, how much are you guys making per week after taxes?
What kind of hauling have you guys been doing? I mean....are you guys mostly doing dry van, reefer, flat bed?
Lastly, did you guys get your $600 hire bonus? Thank you. -
I can answer the hire bonus question since the amount varies with time. Currently it's $250, you get it either at 60,000 miles or optionally you can choose to have it advanced to you during your first few paychecks (of course, if you choose the latter and then leave the company for some reason before 60k miles, then you'd have to pay back the advance).

hey guys a got a question. my buddy is a student driver and is trying to do roehl 7/7 but they told him he had to do 6 weeks over the road first... and that he couldent do regional instead.... had to do otr first...which i think thats kinda weird cause there website says all fleets are available for students. just was wondering if anyone else has had to do this to get 7/7.

I rember when i started i read somewhere in the documentation that you need to do a determined amount of time national first.
-
New student drivers spend 4-6 weeks under assignment to a Fleet Manager (FM) who works specifically with recent hires, and those FMs are all associated with the National Fleet. (This is the "Phase 3" mentioned in some of the Roehl literature.) Once you complete Phase 3, you're assigned to your permanent FM in the division you chose. The National Fleet schedule as outlined to me was approx. 11 days out, 3 days home.
I'm guessing the reason for this is to have it so they don't need a number of Phase 3 FMs in each of their fleets; they keep them all to just the National Fleet. -
It's cold and snowy in Marshfield...how coooooold is it gonna be tomorrow?? day three at RDTC

Flatbedders are assigned their permanent fm after phase 2. This is specific to flatbed division only. Van for some reason still runs phase 3 specialty fms.
JoeBigdubber and technoroom Thank this. -
Well that's very interesting. I'm going for flatbed 7/7 and my recruiter (and the letter I was sent which confirms flatbed division) both said that after Phase 2, I had to go 4-6 weeks on National Fleet before going to 7/7. I'll have to ask them about that again, thanks.
