Simple, either do not haul it or everyone make the shipper get a scale put in.
Intermodal is killing trucking and have zero sympathy for can draggers hauling rail freight, those companies could afford a scale but when idiots keep on hauling for them with those conditions they will never put a scale in.
D.O.T sitting at the same spot for a week.

Yes this same officer gave me a warning for a tractor clearance light that was working. So maybe he finds something wrong every time?

All the heavy places I haul for have scales, but they are just gvw. Not axel weight, so it kinda sucks. I'm not your average can dragger but you def know what companies are around here. My company is a preferred carrier and I'd like to keep it that way. I can decline loads all I want all day long but some pay very well.
-
I get it....but you have to let the wolf feel out his territory and pee a few places so he feels threatened by DOT!
-
You do know that you can still figure your axle weights up from a scale like that right? Heres how, pull your steer axle on first, I'll throw some numbers in here for the sake of discussion, steer axle is on the scale and it says 12,000, ok now pull you drive axles onto the scale, now it shows 46,000, 46,000-12,000=34,000, that is the weight on your drives, now pull the trailer onto the scale, shows 80,000-46,000=34,000 is the weight on your trailer.

Well I'm not that new. Lol. They don't have the weight showen at the scale, there all in a office most of the time on the other side of the building. They just buzz or a light lights up when they weigh you and your clear to go.
Also most of our chassis tandoms don't move. Only 45ft and 53fts have sliding tandoms. -
Is there some kind of law that waves me of scaling a load if I'm within 50 miles of my cons? I thought there was one but I only can find one on house hold moving.
-
Never heard of that one, some states allow for forestry and mining but not commercial commodity transport.

While it is true not all dots r doing the right thing most r--&IMHO--I'd like to c them outside of every container facility rail&sea--and every landfill--I for one am sick and tired of the JUNK runnin in and out if these places!!
Maybe the only way they'll clean up their act--and not just those hauling in and out but the container owners who refuse to maintain the chasis and the landfills & transfer stations that pay next to nothing by weight and look the other way while junk equipment scales on and out WAY over weight!
Just my $.02 -
The chassis here are maintained decently and can be fixed rather quick if not. It's just weeding out the lazy ones here. It's just them scaling us that has me concerned because we don't have a real scale near us besides in Rogers and St Paul park. That's not close
'olhand Thanks this.
