I have and I am actually in great shape for my age, which is why I will prob. go to the flatbed division. Thanks for the heads up though
What do you think about starting trucking at 42?

Don't sweat the heart-rate test or the physical in general IMO. If they find something that should be addressed, then it's best you knew about it right? =)
And also, don't sweat your age. There are LOTS of truckers older.
Best of luck! -
Don't worry about age. I'm 51 and just finished my first month solo. There were folks in their 60's in my class and the one behind me. I see several female drivers and some look like they could easily be my grandmother.
Make a plan and stick to it. Don't let anyone talk you out of this if it is something you want to do.
Check out the thread by DocWatson. He just finished school with Swift.
Good luck! -
Hi Bex,
I just graduated from trucking school at 48. -
Hi guys , and thank you all for ur input, as far as the physical, I am a lil over weight, but bp , heart lungs all good according to my last physical. I still have some soul searching to do before I make that final leap. But I really believe this is what I want to do

41 is close to the average age for trucking. i was talking to fella that was 72 and still at it, last monday
Go for it ! Worse that can happen is you have an adventure while discovering that trucking is not for you... and that wouldn't be so bad would it ? -
I started at age 38.
You won't have any problems with your age at all. It's actually more of a benefit then anything. -
In my own case I am going through a divorce and both kids are grown, so this is the perfect time for me to take the leap and do what I have wanted since childhood. Every day that goes by I am gettting closer and closer to make the call to RDTC

Regarding the age:when I was in CDL school there were 7 of us and the AVERAGE age was 45!The owner and instructors said they actually expected MORE out of our class for that very reason.I'm new myself but I've heard the same thing consistently:Starting out in trucking being a "little older",as we are,HAHA,is not a bad thing!Good luck whatever you decide!

I started at 45 and in less than one year I had a local job home nightly.
Ladies get soooo much help along the way. No reason not to join the group. Unless you might be offended by the ogling masses. Irregardless of your body type!
