We're talking profits, not the cost of operating.
I see it everyday, I can haul for X amount.... How low can you go..? I can haul that for $2 pm... well the next guy, I can do it for $1.75.
See my point ?
How much profit is there AFTER you haul that $1.75 pm load ?
I have a better question... How much profit is there when your hauling for .95 for all miles when it cost you $1.15 to operate ?
Some guy think what is left over after truck expenses is profit and that is their pay, These are the same guys that have to finance tires and truck repairs with the company their leased to.
How do I pay myself ? a salary which comes from my business account. My salary is factored into my cost per mile as part of my operation. Profit is whats left after EVERYTHING is paid. This has working for me 17 yrs... it might not for you, but its my way to better judge profits.
Profit per mile
