Can you spot the double brokered load?
Posted on ITS:
Tobyhanna, PA to Redstone Arsenal, AL, hazmat, 22000 lbs.
Broker: Black Water Enterprises Rate: $2800
Broker: High Plains Logistics Consulting Rate: $1500
Unbelievable.

Even at 2800 that is scab rates for hazmat
rollin coal Thanks this. -
I'm thinking that it's explosives, given the shipper and receiver.

No explosives, most likely waste petroleum. Redstone has a incinerator and used to haul to them, most likely drums of recovered soil that was contaminated by spills or accidents. It takes all day to get loaded and unloaded, figure 48 hours of government B.S.
We hauled by the load and payed well, just never less than 5.00 per mile but in today's market some under achiever will take it.windsmith Thanks this. -
Likely both are actually triple brokered.windsmith Thanks this. -
Make sure you understand the difference between co-broker and double broker. If you can get into a good relationship with a broker that is working with a large 3PL that will only work with carriers of a certain size you can do very well.
And this comment has nothing to do with OP.windsmith Thanks this. -
This is correct and happens quite often. I will often lay off excess loads to other brokers that I cannot get covered with my own brokerage/trucks example being that a customer called in 15 extra loads they needed picked up between monday and tuesday of last week. So I called a local CH Robinson branch who I have done this before with and they moved 8 of the loads. You have a contract similar to what a carrier would fill out.

Redstone Arsenal is more of a R&D military base.. ..not so much bullets/ammo and troops.
aiwiron Thanks this. -
You'll never haul or see loads posted for military bullets or explosives. The loads are not brokerable and can only be run by teams with gov clearances and satellite tracking. This small sector is called AA&E. Landstar Ranger is an AA&E carrier and the loads are never posted to the internal load board, only by Qualcomm.

I am guessing they pay pretty well
