This school is in Detroit, Michigan off Rosa Parks Blvd. they offer complete CDL training for $$$ 995.00. Seems a bit low to me, like way low. Just curious if anyone has heard of this school and if they are accredited or not??? They say they offer job placement assistance, cover the cost of testing, the cost of DOT physical.
The school is located in a ghetto type area but that part does not phase me, ( may however be a reason for the low cost) just want to know if anyone has attended and / or heard of this school. I appreciate any input. Thanks, Tim

Considering the cost of most other schools ($4k-$6k), this one doesn't pass the smell test.

I agree. That is why I am hoping to find some drivers that have actually attended. If no one responds then I SERIOUSLY doubt it is reputable. Thanks

great american truck driving school, that's the one i went to....and apparently so have a lot of others. they keep a list of graduates with pics, and the 995 was a special. the instructors were awesome, and one has actually been written about as a top notch instructor when he worked for another school. the area isnt the greatest (was told that, 'a little white girl like you, you don't walk alone around here' )when i asked if it would be safe for me to walk the one block from the hotel to the school. the school did pay half my testing cost (truck+test =$200). the 'special' i got did not cover the dot, or anything else, the only reason i got half the testing cost covered was because i paid online, and i got my dot before i went. the hotel does give discounts to the students, though, so that was good. they also do offer job placement assistance and are really quite good about it: not only do they have recruiters come to the school, they also will help anyone who is not computer friendly to check out different companies, help fill out applications, make phone calls to companies on the students behalf, etc. while i will admit it is not the best school out there, i was happily surprised by the quality of instruction. while i personally didn't have to have this, i witnessed one student who was having trouble getting the 90 down get extra time and instruction, another who was unable to attend every day due to work constraints was able to make arrangements to come weekly for an extended period of time, they offer a weekend class separate from the weekday class.... and let me tell you, as someone who literally grew up 'in the sticks', on dirt roads, and lives more than 5 miles from the closest village (yes VILLAGE), and is NOT used to city driving, they were adept at getting me over my nerves at the prospect of driving the detroit freeway. (OMG i've never seen so many crazy people all going nowhere so fast all the same time who dont look where they're going - including the wrong way up oneways) the whole reason i went there in the first place was because i'm a mechanic, and was offered a job as a shop hand, but part of the job description was having a cdl so as to be able to move rigs around the yard. a week into school and i got a call that they werent able to hold the job for me...but it didnt matter because i found out how much i LIKE driving that big truck, how much FUN it is (yeah, i know, novelty), and i made a TON of new friends.

That's funny, here in California people think the $4,000 schools are shady and the $900 schools are the norm...just goes to show...
