Hey,
Is it common for trucking companies to hold back your '2 weeks pay' into two separate pay cheques?
(Ex. You'd get the first payment on Sept 01 and the second payment on Sept 30)?
Thanks.
Pay being split in two separate payments

ummm, you work, you get paid.
there is no 30 day seperation. with ANY company. in ANY industry -
Not in the US. Typically we work a week and get paid the next for that week. Sometimes as early as the following Tuesday to as late as Saturday.
In another example some employers use a bi-weekly schedule where you work 2 weeks and get paid the 3rd and in the last example used by my state government it's once a month....all of it.
There are laws regulating this practice and it sounds like your guy is breaking the law.....I've never heard of this.
Sounds like your guy has money problems......

Nothing to get ALARMED about , if you noticed the OP is from CANADA and in CANADA
Employers must establish a recurring pay period with a regular pay day for employees. The regular pay day could be bi-weekly, semi-monthly, monthly or any other specified period chosen by the employer.
An employer has to pay all the wages earned in each pay period (except vacation pay that is accumulating) no later than the employee's pay day for the period. -
I don't understand the question being asked. Are you saying that you get paid every 2 weeks for the previous 2 weeks or what? Your example doesn't make much sense to me. It sounds like your getting paid once a month for the previous months work and that months pay would be split up into 2 pay periods. If so then why is your months pay coming 1 or 2 days apart? Shouldn't you get paid once for the entire month or at the least get paid on the 1st and 15th?

Real easy. He gets paid twice a month. I worked years ago for a big US. trucking company like that. No bigge, You just have to learn how to budget your money.
What sucks is depending on when you start, you might have a month before your first check.
Depends on their cut off dates.
The goverment in some states still pay only twice a month.
Plus where I used to be leased too, their office people got paid twice a month.. -
