Is it possible you work for another company, and your paid to post negative, false and misleading information?
You certainly have a agenda. -
Mustang do you work for Conway? Really would like some inside info.. especially on the orientation thing. And if they schedule you for orientation does that mean all reports have came back? Employment, accident history etc.. nothing to hide just curious.
-
Yes I do.
I don't really know about orientation to tell you the truth.
I went through orientation, but that was over 20 years ago.
I'm sure there is somebody thats recently gone through, check on the whats your 20 thread

Roadhog, I am 99% sure if you are in orientation, you are cool on the background. The reason is, if you are a seasoned driver, your next stp is a truck. If you are a student, your next step is on the road with a finisher. Rumors fly in this biz, but never heard of anyone being sent home from orientation for background. I think it is a fair question to ask a recruiter. I know there are 2 or 3 checks and double checks, but if memory serves, they are all prior to orientation.
Good luck to ya man!roadhog2012 Thanks this. -
Me thinks he worked for all the other companies....Walmart, Pizza Hut, CVS (Do you want extra cheese on that meat lovers?)

Thanks roadrealtor!

Looking at these threads, and found a couple of things that don't add very well. I've been in contact with a Conway Truckload recruiter (yes, they're human) and: company drivers with 1 year clean driving start at $.37/mile. Practical miles, not HHG miles. Good bonus program. As for home time and miles, that's depending on the drivers, isn't it? The planners lean toward drivers who are on time at pickup/delivery, right? I'm a little sad. I was looking forward to actually getting paid at least a percentage of what the job is worth. This is an old thread, does anyone have some fresh information? Thanks. PS: I have talked with a few (3 or 4) CTL drivers at truck stops and rest areas, shippers and receivers, and each of them said pretty positive things.

Not sure what you are sad about. Is it the .37? I have looked at other companies, and have yet to find greener pastures. No company pays what it is worth. We are more regulated that pilots or brain surgeons, treated like second class citizens (by the outside world, not the company), and are doing it because we are crazy, like driving, and it is a pretty stable job in a rough economy.
The planners don't really look at "on time" records. That is a fleet managers job. If you have problems with meeting eta's you don't get to stay. Planners look at shortest deadhead to load for the drivers that have the hours to run the load and pick the driver that has been on the board the longest.
If you've talked to other drivers, you are getting good recent info even though the thread is old, there are current posts.
I hope that is helpful to ya. Good luck. -
No, home time is 1 day off for every 7, that's not depending on the drivers, that's what management has decided to keep. And the miles you get depend on the area you are in, yours hours available, etc. Nobody gets preferential treatment, planner found something for you, you get it.
It's better than working at Pizza Hut, but it's definitely not a place to stay at for 20 years. The hours away from home and the hassle of living in a truck will never make the wages they pay worth it. Still, I believe Con-Way as a company, management, safety plus their equipment are top notch and very professional. Things I hated were the freebies they expect you to do and the terrible hometime. If they called me tomorrow and offered me a dedicated run home weekeneds I would go back in a heartbeat, other than that forget it.
