Pulled a 14 wide, 100+ ft long metal bridge out of Muscatine, Iowa. was rolling through Illinois on a narrow two lane because of the construction on 57. I come up to road construction where there was a1 lane skinny bridge and a sign saying, NO OVER 10 FT WIDE. I called the desk jockeys.
"Driver are you on the correct route? Are you sure you're on the correct route? Did you check your routing? Are you absolutely certain you are on the correct route? Did you double check your route?"
That's all the help you need on a bad day on the job. So I hung up and did what I should have done in the first place: Call the state. Apparently the contractor working on that bridge started earlier than what he was supposed to.
Sgts Corker and Wiley are great. Got them on speed dial too. The last ones I used were Milwaukee city cops. Compared to others I've used, they were my least favorites to use. -
Yes, I will agree with you about the Milwaukee city cops being a pain.
1 year ago I did them a favor. One of the guys got hurt so I went to go get his ld. and take it into Milwaukee.
Call the city like the permit says too. I spent 1 1/2 hours waiting where they told me to wait. This was even with a heads up call prior.
Then they say oh, You need to call this city as we are going through their section as well. I'm like huh?
Finally get rolling. Those guys a just plain stupid. No clue in how to do the job...
