More annual pay with flatbed. With flatbed the shippers & receivers are usually happy to see you. Most of the time, you will be unloaded before you can even stow the tarps & chains away. You're unloaded & rolling down the highway quickly. The customer will even lift the tarps for you with a forklift if the tarps are heavy.
Dry van, you just never know. You may back in a dock and be there 1 hour or 8 hours, meanwhile the 14 hour window of your work day is closing. You may deal with grocery warehouses, where if you've seen the movie,"One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest", it's much like that. With some companies you may get some dedicated account and not deal with grocery warehouses, but I personally wouldn't take the risk. The money is terrible & the stress not worth it.AndrewMemphis Thanks this. -
i should add i am in western u.s. along i90 corridor.

The biggest difference between pulling a box and an open trailer is this: It's easier to hide stupid in a box. With an open trailer, others will be able to spot stupid from a half a mile away. In our line of work, you won't last long if you're stupid.AndrewMemphis, SHC, Chinatown and 3 others Thank this.
