The people that claim to be students on this post ARE students. I've personally met them in class.

On another note... I go out on 12/26. I've spoken to my trainer and he seems to be a pretty good guy so far. He also has more than 6 months experience. More like 9 years or so. So this company doesnt believe in making new drivers trainers. I have to meet him at the Sharonville drop yard at 7 am on the 26th. He also told me that if you want the miles and you dont complain and whine, you'll get them. Now, if we can just get dispatched some place warm. Is there some place warm this time of year??? No really, I'll go wherever they want me to go.

    I wonder what happened....
    to the guy who started....
    this post...
    MIA, Banned, retired?

    Did he retire already?
    I thought he just started.
    Now I am confused.
    Old Dutchmen get confused easily.
    :)

Does Roehl let you put tv's into your tractors and does Roehl require you to shut off the engine for sleeping inside the cab. I appreciate all the information on here provided by the employees.

Yes, you even have a special spot just for the TV and I believe they run the coax to that location. However, it needs to be 12V or you need to have an inverter. Flipping through the DRG, the max is 1000W inverter and they charge you $150 to install it. If it's a smaller one, you can plug it in the cigarette lighter.

Roehl's tractors (most) use ICON, which does a few things. First, you can set it to keep the engine at a certain temperature in the cold months. Second, you can set it to start and stop the engine to keep the cab a certain temperature, within a few degrees. Third, it shuts off appliances after they've drained the battery so much to insure it has enough juice left to start. Actually, I'm not sure that the third one is ICON, but I did read about that in the DRG.

The thing is, you get a certain bonus for not idling too much, depending on the month you can only have a certain percentage idle time. I hope this has helped.

Yes it has though I wonder if the trucks have APU's. The only reason I asked is I have sinus infections hence the reason for the engine being on. I just got a 20in flat screen for the TV reason. I am planning on applying for their regional division in a year when I have time to get my CDL.

Is the regional side different from OTR? Also, do you have to drop the truck at a yard or is take home?

There are some APU's, but mostly on O/O trucks and trainer condo's. I have seen very very few on solo trucks.
The regional side keeps you in a region of the country as opposed to running nationwide. It pays a little less than Nationwide, and supposedly gets you home a little more often.

As a nationwide driver, I haven't been much further west than Omaha, NE anyways. Seems like most of the west coast stuff goes to teams and the old timers who were hired from the west coast as singles back when they hired singles from out there. They only hire teams from the west coast now.

First of all your 20 inch TV is to big. The space fits a 13 inch tv. Get yourself a 400w inverter that plugs into the 12 volt and you will be ok. Roehl is trying very hard to get bunk heaters installed on all trucks and they work with the engine off. Unless you are a owner/operater you will not see a APU. The ICON system is pretty much gone by now.

Under the 7/4-7/3 Hometime programme, despite what the website claims, how much can one realistically expect to earn over the course of a year ?
