I aint out there to make a paycheck, I am out to turn a PROFIT. With operational and maintenace cost as high as they are, I need to turn a profit. I just got a load going to Scott, LA. But it takes an act of congress to get out coming back east during this time of the year. It seems like I got to have a fist fight with someone just to get a dollar a mile coming back. I know whats going to happen is I am going to end up deadheading back to AL. This is BS. And they are saying there is a major shortage of drivers. I call a MAJOR SHORTAGE in freight back to the EAST COAST.
What kind of profit is this broker gonna make on this load?

Normally a broker gets 15% of the load. Some charge even higher.depending on what kind military equip it is,you probably would need a low boy, step deck etc.And you may not get paid on this load for 30 days.Drove for a company who done military loads and it took them 30 days to get paid.As a company driver i got paid without waiting.

3500? 4200? I ain't touching military freight for less than $1,000,000! In the end I'm the one paying to move the frieght so might as well make it worth my while.

I still don't think we know enough from the OP to talk about this. My gut says this was a partial.

Just seen a load out of NC going to Miami, FL...783 miles $1800... But wait, it gets better! Must have a TWIC, raise your insurance due to the load being Cat skid steer loaders and have a 53' trailer. Load weight was under 31k... Sounds a little light in the $$$ area to me.
IMO I wouldn't go to FL for less than 3+ per mile. Depending on how far in would be more. But to want someone to do all this broker wanted plus use a 53' trailer for 2.50 a mile...... I don't think so!Jimmbuds Thanks this. -
Nope my rate to Florida for this load is $3.50 per mile. I am glad there is someone else out there that wont haul cheap freight into really bad spots. You would be extremely lucky to get something out of Tampa/Orlando, but if not first spot is Jacksonville. At this time of the year I am thinking more like Savannah or Atlanta. WAY TOO CHEAP!

My loads that go to FL during the busy season pay well over $3.00/mi, and seem to do okay coming back out of FL. But why would I want to go down there for that cheap when I KNOW I CANT get anything till at least Jacksonville or SavannaH? That doesnt make good business since.
Same goes with Texas for me, I get calls all the time from brokers like TQL and CHR, OH! I got a awesome paying load to Texas, it pays $2.10 a mile to Texas. I go HUH? You call that a great paying load to a place where absolutely nothing coming back east? My rate is no less than $3.50 per mile to Texas. OH! OKay BYE -
If no one takes it he will make $0000, most likley the load came from Menlo.
-
Yea what is the deal with that Menlo Worldwide, I always see that on alot of military loads? Is that just a logistics company or is that a military firm?
-
That is what I am talking about. Haul it take a year off.
