Anyone have any recommendations for tax software for filing our taxes as an O/O?
In the past I have used TurboTax and TaxCut but this year, the prices (or lack of discounts) seems odd.
I don't ever recall paying close to $100 for a one-time use software ?!

So what software for doing taxes is recommended for 2012?

Turbotax did away with most of their rebates/discounts this year, not sure why. You can sometimes still find a deal on it at Sam's or Costco.
Hanadarko Thanks this. -
it's cheaper to use the online version vs. buying the software.
i mean. why would you want to buy the software. to load on your computer. then buy the updated version with new tax codes each year to load on your computer.
the online method works the same and stores your taxes on there server just the same.
i've never bought the software.
and your not going to find anything better. people may like H AND R. but i always get more money from turbo. -
I have used Turbo Tax for more than five years. Besides being a driver we have a small business, and TT makes it real easy to file our taxes. After years of going to H&R i kind of got tired of having my tax preparer asking me questions right off of her computer screen. I figured i could do the same at home without an appointment. I figured right. I just compared the end result the first time with the prior years filings done by H&R to check for missing forms in case i missed something. Everything checked out and i have been doing it on my own since. The only drawback is that in my limited experience TT doesn't exactly spoon feed me the questions when it comes to the expenses related to our industry, specifically Per-diem. I can always find answers in the help tab that is available on every screen on the right side.

I have not found (yet) how to add per-diem.
I did buy TT Home/Business today...and chugging through it right now -
Anyone else know a good tax prep online?

I've never paid a $100 fee, that's crazy! I use TaxAct for my personal taxes, my business taxes and my clients' taxes. Usually it runs me around $20-30 to file electronically - even for my business. I also use forms that I created in Excel to track & monitor expenses, A/R, A/P, P/L, etc.

I may pick it up this week. Been just putting it off. Got until April..... -
I just realized y'all are referring to buying the actual software. Sorry y'all, my original response was referring to the online software for preparation. My apologies...
