This is a 2nd career for me, in my late 50s. But if I had of gotten into trucking at a earlier time, and at a younger age, I would love to get on with 1 of those 2 companies.

This comment is silly! Seriously? I don't have to work their to read a P & L report. I don't need to work their to know how many miles they as a company average per unit. This information is public data to those who want to know WHAT IT IS ACTUALLY LIKE.. I could care less what SOME ONE says about a company. In my time trucking I have learn many things one of them is A persons opinion is exactly that THEIR opinion that don't MEAN anyone else might have that same experience. a OPINION is not a FACT.
I care about data, numbers not that kind drivers "lie" about or recruiters "lie" about. (not saying you have lied) but the information you can get off the internet is amazing really so while you tell me your getting "XYZ" money I can tell you that the last interstate p & l report stated trucks at 2105 per unit per week. -
Here is the difference in my case .. Here we go, as O/O:
Load Pay:
May .. .95cpm + 80% fsc = about $1.40 a mile
IDC .. 67.5% of Load + 100% fsc = about $1.60 a mile
Fuel:
May .. Cash price at pump + $5.00 ($20.00 out of Network) to open pump to fuel.
IDC .. .10 cents per gallon off Cash price at pump with No fees to open pump.
Truck Insurance:
May .. $69.75 a week
IDC .. $7.32 a week
Workmen's Comp:
May .. $145.00 a week
IDC .. $35.00 a week
Qualcomm:
May .. $18.75 a week
IDC .. $10.00 a week
Admin Fess:
May .. $48.50 a week
IDC .. No Fee
Fuel Taxes:
May .. $125.00 a week*
IDC .. $55.00 a week**
* Since I run the same States, why is the Fuel Tax that goes to the States higher with May? Looks to me like May is charging more and pocketing the rest. May refused to give me receipts for the Fuel Tax paid to States (that is illegal).
** IDC will gladly give receipts of paid Fuel Tax
So one can clearly see why I am happy as a clam at Interstate (IDC).
And what is the reason I will want to come back to May again??? Yeah, thats what I thought! -
Yeah, I can see why you left.
-
I agree with this 100 %!!!! I would have simply liked it but some how my like button won't show up! This is how i feel about it! -
Thats my point Steve .. Interstate is NOT the same as May or Gordon ..May and Gordon are Entry Level Companies, pay is generally lower and yer treated in general as a rookie and a dumb truck driver (as I have been told so many times).
Interstate requires 1 year experience with almost perfect driving record now .. Its a different company. You get treated with respect, the terminals are awesome with big lounges, libraries and work out room and even a cafeteria at Tacoma Terminal. The pay is better, the benefits are better. The home time vs.on the road is better ... No Steve, they are not the same as May or Gordon. -
You are right about the first part. They stood behind me during a tragic point of my life and for that and many other reason i have remained loyal, loyal to the people not the company per se.
I have never not once wrote a bad thing about swift. I made a video picking fun it was a comedy video said nothing bad about swift.. As a matter of fact you can read thru the post I have made on TTR and see that numerous times I have defend swift or a driver from swift.
Your statement is a lie scooter. -
I hear ya .. i like owning my own business (even the crap that goes with it). I have thought of those as well, like I said earlier .. I don't plan on being OTR for life. I have a lot to chose from here in Portland area as far as good, home every night companies to work for. Can also do that with my own truck (once shes paid off of course).
What I am doing now is what I like .. For now (lol). I also never said IDC was the best, just saying they are in a higher field than May. -
You couldn't find work? sorry to hear that! That's strange tho because every where i go i hear ads that the local PD are hiring. I also have this thing called the internet that allows me to look up jobs. And seeing how i have a lot of friends that work in the LE industry and I have considered moving into several times. I find it hard that if your such a stand up COP that you couldn't find work! Sounds like BS to me.. You want a job at a PD if your serious and you have a good record i'll make a few phone calls and get you on! I'M NOT JOKING!

Trucker Steve .. Remember, I am talking as an Owner/Op, not a Company Driver. The numbers ya see online are not for Owner/Ops. This is a new program that IDC started in August 2012 .. I'm only the 11 th truck under this new program .. Hence truck number: 9011
They are now up to only 9022 .. Lol
I too said I would never leave May, but May is all I knew .. But here I am at IDC ...
