I have gone the route of own auth. and being totally independant before. I helped 2 friends/oo's get going back in the day and honestly, now a days....its too much bs. Even if I could purchase a truck and lease on somewhere, I'd much rather that. Discounts on fuel/tires and so on are def. perks. I also like the fact that settlements are after ALL expenses, so when you get that check, its your. I'm sure some will disagree but that is my personal experience. With that said, now a days the capitol it would take to start and run a rookie auth. is just WAY MORE then its worth. I'd rather loose 20-30% to a company and pull their freight and trailer then loose 10% to a factoring company and have to deal with booking myself.

I guess its a THIN line these days on being truly independent. The only reason I was I was looking at lease offers is because my credit is shot to crap and no way to purchase a truck, therefore was researching my options on leasing. And before all the ##### starters rag on my credit worthyness it has nothing to do with my bills or my failed attempts at this already.

I called Celadon and spoke w/ Brandon. Seems like a fair deal as for company drivers, but they are based out of Indy and I don't want to go that far for orientation. We'll see with what happens.

    **Update**

So I saw my Dr again today!!!! Flatbedding is out for good. I have a back problem I'm dealing with but he said I should be ok to just "drive". Anyone know how to approach this with finding somethign that is DEF no touch, or drop n hook???? I did put a resume up on monster for dispatcher and also posted for some advice in the employment section here. Just looking for any ideas on the right way to go about finding a company to work for w/o leading them on about abilities.

Why don't you talk to a TFY driver and see what they really do . They have a lot of drivers that have been there a long time ! just sayin people tend to tell stories to suit their point not necessarily to be honest. If you need a name or number let me know I can get you anything you want.
