For the amount of propane required for a camp stove, placards and a hazmat endorsement are not required, otherwise everyone picking up the 20lb cylinders would have to have one

My same setup!!! Bought it at WalMart. Sure, open a window 1/8" or 1/4", on the downwind side to pull out the CarbonMonoxide fumes. I tried makin' bacon once in a pan. That lasted one pack of bacon. hahaha. No more cleanup for ME! I am thinking of a 1,500W inverter tho and a 700W microwave and cook the bacon on paper towels on paper plate. It should work better than the big pan I used. Easy cleanup.

On a similar topic, is the issue of Carbon Monoxide whenever a fire is burned. It builds up and can kill you. If you cook soup, ramen noodles, reheat thermos of old coffee (yuck) you will make CO. So, crack a window when you cook w/one of these.
They also are an attractive life saver in the sense if your truck dies, and won't start and you are way out in the boonies...late at night,,,blowin' snow and -10 below, and truck won't run for some mysterious reason, these little propane stoves COULD save your life by providing heat. Just keep the downside window cracked a bit, to vent fumes. I know after my batteries didn't restart the OptiIdle one night, and I woke up and it was 30deg in there, I sure wish I had one of these. And I bygod got one and will always have it in the truck, just in case.

I sleep w/window cracked 1/8" too, at night. Heck, I drive with the pass. side window cracked 1/8"... Fumes are what can kill you, and the diesel engine CAN kill you while you drive, sleep, etc. Same way with an APU running; it could put carbon monoxide in the vehicle.
I could care less if some companies say 'no' to this device. One has to be smarter than a rock I guess and not burn the truck down, but hey, I'm smarter than a rock. Cut up some summer sausage and put it in ramen noodles when you stop for the night and no restaurant open, is when you appreciate yourself being so smart for having this thing.
How far is the bathroom you say??? Oh yeah, don't forget that, if you make some hot oatmeal in the morning!! :biggrin_25523: "look at that trucker,,,he's walkin' one-legged'

How do you keep the inverter from draining the batteries?

On January 10/13 I ate my last restaurant meal while on the road. Saved a bunch of cash, ate way more veggies and saved lots of time by only needing a truckstop for fuel and showers.

With the exception of those new tear open tuna packages, everything I've eaten has been raw or cooked on my Mr. Max- Burton Butane stove.

I've also lost 22 pounds and taken up two holes on my belt.

Some great hints in these posts but some of the drivers need to see a dietician. Way too much bacon and the fellow who reiflls his Dr. pepper eats a bunch of crap. Must have high BP and weigh 300 lbs. The whole idea of cooking in your truck is to eat healthy! And save $$ as a bonus.

Check out the Nu Wave Oven...it does not require propane...no chance of poisoning yourself...You do not even need a pan just some aluminum foil...It cooks bacon in 4 minutes...grease drops to bottom onto aluminum foil lining...clean up is a breeze...plus you can cook bacon and toast at the same time...but my favorite breakfast is mini bagel bites....they cook to perfection in 7 minutes and 3 is only 180 calories...you can buy a box of 40 for about $7...
