First place I am not spamming...I am not trying to sell any thing...I am just informing truckers there is a better way to eat healthy and economically on the road...and suggesting they check it out for themselves...This product can be bought at Walmart, Amazon and other places, but if they have never seen it, then they may thank me after they do..

Yep it is dinky. I was surprised to find the cooker there. We were buying drinks to smuggle into the movie and I thought I would check. And the price was nice as well.

I for one would be VERY interested in hearing from any truckers who are using this little gem. My husband starts OTR this week, and I'm trying to get him equipped. From the little I've read about this device so far, the NuWave can apparently replace several appliances -- including the LunchBox oven, microwave, grill and crock pot.

Brian will have APU and the company will hardwire an inverter for him (we buy the inverter), so I'm thinking that NuWave could be an excellent alternative to a truck filled with numerous small appliances.

Comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!

    Buzzard:

While there are many handy ways of cooking, even in a truck, they don't all work as well as you might envision. The three biggest issues are:

    Space, time and clean up.

Space: There isn't much of it, so you need to make up your mind how you will eat and cook 100% of the time so that you can choose your method/ appliance and not clutter up the entire sleeper.

Time: prep, cooking and clean up can take a while depending in the method and availability of method. An 11 hour day can take all day, sometimes. Are you going to embark on a 2 hour culinary exercise when you have an extra hour and you're hungry?
Cookers like the one mentioned seem like a pain to clean and store and use while driving.

Clean up: there usually isn't any running water in a truck. How will one clean the cooker? In a rest area or truck stop bathroom sink? On the catwalk behind the sleeper like you are car- camping? Not likely.
Paper plates, no stick cooking spray and oven-bags (for the lunch box stove) rule the day in mobile cuisine. GF Grill seems to work well for many, but be prepared to use many paper towels. All that fat its "knocking out" has to go somewhere. The NU Wave seems like a real pain to clean without running water.

Wow, B -- YOU Sir are the Voice of Reason !!! Your wise words will guide me to a more appropriate solution. I had completely forgotten about the running water issue, which I now see is a very critical one. You are so right -- I will take that cute little Nuwave toy right over to my local Walmart and return it as soon as it arrives!

Mr. Brian just called -- end of first day of orientation. Now he tells me that he's getting a Pete per his request, but to hold off on purchasing much of anything because they will upgrade him to a newer, nicer rig in 60-90 days if he's a real good boy. So he doesn't want to request the inverter installation in his temporary ride, which makes perfectly good sense.

I'm hoping that when he gets home this weekend that I can get him set up to hit the road in at least partial comfort and ease of operation.

I thought he would come home this weekend and I'd be able to get him all set up to hit the road in comfort. Seems to me that he said that he THINKS that he can plug the refrigerator right into the truck's APU. But he's telling me he wants to go temporarily 12-volt with something like your lunchbox suggestion ... I'll get right on it !!!
