well that's the thing with IRT, there is no physical activity involved with it.. I mean if you really didn't care, you could choose not to check the seals on the top of the tank like I do.. i saw one driver almost tackle the loader just so he could see the seals while they were still on the ground before the loader put the top seals on. I didn't think it was that serious, but i guess some drivers really dont like climbing that ladder. If i leave and i decide to stay tanker, i'ma try to get local and haul some fuel, if i can't do fuel then i'll jump over to chemical and go over to QC... if i dont stay tanker then i'll just buy a truck and go over to Bruce Oakley for awhile.

But everyone's different, some love temp critical and dealing with grocery dc's, others love dry vans and dealing with lumpers, flatbed and tarps, dumps and dirt.... just get in and fit in.. i have no problem with someone because of what they prefer, only when it slows me down.

Like the Dos Equis commercial goes....

"I don't always check the seals, but when I do, I climb the ladder."

I dislike the ladder because I'm not very coordinated and I REALLY don't want to fall off, but the thing is anyone can slip or miss a step and fall at anytime and severely injure themselves. It's very easy to do, and cold weather makes it even easier.

I will most likely stick with tankers. Don't care if I ever pull a box again, dry or reefer. Flatbed to me is way too much free labor. Whether I stick with food grade after IRT, who knows. For me personally food grade has had way more pros than cons. But then again I'm not trying to support a family or pay a mortgage and I don't have 47 different bills to pay. I only have myself to support, which for me also has many more pros than cons. It's all about attitude and how somebody chooses to look at things.

In Texas I could make 100k a year hauling oil. I'm not at the level I need to be at to get jobs like those and who knows how long it'll be before I am, but I'm working on it.

    LOL

I got a wife, rent, and a few bills.. And i still do pretty good out here. We live comfortable, when i was young i was poor... Well i wasn't poor, my parents were and they just drag'd me with them, but i always remember'd that i want'd to do something, but never could because we never had the money. When i join'd the military it was the same way. When i got married in the military it was the same way. Start'd driving my own truck and all of that went away.. Wasn't living pay check to check, had money on the side, had actual dollar bills "1's, 5's, 10's, 20's" in my ash tray in my pickup truck. It would be change out of my pocket. I hardly ever had quarters and nickles in my truck before i start'd as a truck driver.

Now that i have money, there's nothing that i want to do so i just sit in bank.. The wife wants to go out, i take her out..I'll hop in my pickup and burn four tanks of gas in three days then park it at the terminal again. It has a 25gal tank, ya'll do the math, and i think nothing of it.. I remember when i wouldn't get desert at McD's because i knew i was gonna need the money for something else.

Sorry, but if i were you Act, i'd be banging down $1000 hookers and driving a used Lambo or something along those lines. Pappy always said that you can't take it with you so why save it. Well i gotta save because my wife wants a house, and she wont let me spend $1000 on a hooker and as of now we hardly have anywhere to park to two vehicles we have now, so i wouldn't know where to put the Lambo..

But as long as you're happy that's all that matters.

Should have ask'd if ya'll could go to Wilmington and pull an empty out of there. The local guys got about six spot'd down there.

If I'm gonna spend that kinda cash on a hooker it's gonna be in Nevada at the bunny ranch or something. No syphilis, and no undercover cops.

Truck's in the shop again. Bad crank sensor. The S.O.B. doesn't wanna crank, and when it finally does, it lugs like a mofo for a few seconds and shuts off. At least this time it's in Winter Haven and I get to wait it out at the house.
